"Rei-chan-!"

Usagi looked, just in time to see Rei chant the words that would transform her. Her blue-violet eyes widened in horror as she saw the flames surround the pristess and pass its powers to her.

This Rei, though, was not her own. She sensed it when she first made contact, and - judging by how young she looked, how angry she was - she was moe than certain.

But she had to try and reason with the pristess, even if it mean getting hurt.

"Rei-chan, stop!" She ran towards the fire. "Stop!! I can explain this....!!"

"Fiiiire..."

...The bracelet let Rei get no further.

[iamusagi]

"REI-CHAN!!"

Usagi saw the fire die down, and saw her begin the attack. She knew it wouldn't be finished.

"No...!"

She caught Rei just before she hit the ground.

"Ack!"

Her friend was heavier than she remembered. Grunting and straining, she nevertheless carried the girl to her dorn room, where Usagi could watch over the black-haired teenager.

There would be a lot of explanations on both sides when she woke up.

As Rei sank into unconsciousness, she could only wonder what twisted world had pulled her into itself only to make her fall at this girl's hands again and again - giving her no protection but expecting her to fight a war with people who would kill her themselves and gladly.

It was a long time before she came to.

BACK AT MUI-TRIA DORM

When Rei came to, Usagi was...

...Usagi was watching over her? This couldn't be the Dark Queen; she'd never have nursed Rei. What was happening?

It was... it was so like Usagi before everything had happened. Before the Dark Kingdom, before Metalia... before Mamoru, Rei admitted very very quietly to herself.

"Usagi...?" The tone was questioning, probing, now.

[iamusagi]

"Rei-chan..!" Usagi was tightly clasping her friend's hand. "I'm glad you're ok. The bracelet took you out for awhile!"

Tears were forming in her blue-violet eyes. After all, this may not have been her Rei-chan...but she was glad to have any Rei-chan at this point.

Definitely Usagi. Somehow, this world wasn't torturing her after all, it was giving her a chance to see Usagi again.

"What the.." - an expletive slipped from her lips - "is going on here?"

Well, even Rei as a princess had Rei's mouth, apparently.

[iamusagi]

"Rei-chan!" A blush came onto Usagi-s cheeks. "You're really a potty mouth....."

At this, the blush deepened. After all, who knew what was different in this Rei-chan's world? Perhaps it was acceptable to cuss.

"Aah, forgive me." The blonde-but-surely-going-silver bowed her head. "I keep forgetting...judging by how you reacted towards me, you're not exactly the Rei-chan I remember. Actually, I'm not sure if...if you're even my Rei-chan at all."

My Rei-chan. It sounded so strange; she never actually imagined she'd meet a Rei that was not familiar with her.
