Maria burst through the door, looking like she'd been chased by an Entropi. Oh, the meeting took a while, alright, but it wasn't what transpired during the gathering of leaders that prompted her to come running into her new apartment. Rather, it was the exchange afterwards with Jing, a short conversation that opened her eyes - or perhaps she should say her heart - to the good things she had been missing.

"There's always next time, right?"

But what if she wasn't getting one?

She still wasn't sure what it was that she had to do to resolve the issue. But she knew that she had to do something, or to even at least just say something, before it was too late. In her life she'd had regrets, unfortunately resulting from things she didn't bother to act upon because her mind and her businesslike approach to nearly all things in the universe prevented her from doing so. Now that she had the capacity to change that, she was going to.

"I-I'm home," she called out tentatively.

If Aligoté noticed Maria's entrance, he didn't give any notice of it afterward other than to peer out of the kitchen with slightly more round eyes than usual. A bit of a smile was hinted at when she termed the new apartment "home", but he merely answered, "Welcome back."

He knew if he was determined enough, he could make absolutely sure nothing awkward made this more difficult. Little did he know suddenly the tables had been turned.

"How'd it go?" he inquired, in regards to the meeting. "Supper's just about done, too."

Say something.

"Well..." Maria knew it was only be a matter of time before Aligoté could sense that she wasn't acting like her usual self. It wasn't like her to be stammering, or glowing with a great deal of unease, because in supposedly awkwardly situations she could normally manage just fine. Normally, anyway. To conceal that, she sat down on the couch and tried to busy herself with her PDA, pretending that she'd stored everything there. "We've discussed the developments. We're mostly... uh, what do you call it... oh, right, speculating, on... things."

Aligoté nodded, wandering back to the kitchen with one ear still tuned to her words. At least it gave her time to compose herself, but he also did need to keep an eye on the pie to make sure it didn't burn. "That's good," he answered. "Figured out what the Warden's plannin' to do with that second Consulo, then? Or was he really tellin' the truth of it..."
