Shadow regarded that serious expression on her face with an ever-so-slightly raised eyebrow.
"You're allowed to smile," he commented as he turned back toward the main room. He'd noted several times before that she seemed to have become far too serious lately, but he didn't think he'd ever said anything about it to her. It wasn't like it mattered much, it was just strange.
Her long, babbling apologies usually came when she was nervous or taken off-guard, as he recalled. It might have been a little funny, were he one to be more easily entertained. Instead, he stepped out into the center of the room without saying a word about it.
Last time, he had been trying to get her to increase her reaction speed, as he recalled. He wasn't sure if she'd been practicing since then, but in any case, there wasn't really enough room in here to do that today.
"Stand as if you were about to punch me," he instructed.
