Pegasus was amused.

"And I thought that would be my line," he teased, but he was really pleased by Siegfried's enthusiasm. "Very well, let us open gifts. Who should go first?"

Siegfried had a ready answer for that. He promptly offered Pegasus the box he carried. "Merry Christmas, Pegasus."

Pegasus politely accepted the box and began undoing the ribbons with no more than a bit of curiosity. When he finally saw what was inside the box, though, he stared a moment, and then burst out laughing.

"Why, you scoundrel!" he exclaimed.

"I suppose I am," Siegfried agreed, laughing along with Pegasus. He settled himself on a chair, looking as pleased with himself as the cat that got into the cream. "You did not suspect, did you?"
