Saioh's determination to remain inside for the duration of the mistletoe's invasion had lasted only as long as it took for his butterfly to start looking woebegone. Winter was not the best time of year for it, as the general lack of color and sunlight made it tire more easily. Saioh gave in and decided that a quick turn around the block couldn't hurt anything if he was cautious and paid attention. Last year he had done quite well trusting his extrasensory powers to keep him safe.

And they did keep him safe, up until he noticed a familiar and unwelcome shape in front of him, standing and looking sullen.

Not him again, thought Saioh, annoyed. Just thinking of how his last encounter with Manjoume set his teeth on edge, and he was so busy fuming over those sore memories that he hardly noticed where he was going until he realized he couldn't go any further.

"Damn it all," he muttered.

...Oh great. Just who Manjoume needed to see right now, and now they were stuck under a stupid sprig of mistletoe together.

A long chain of rather vulgar swears started sounding in his mind, each one worse than the next. The only thing keeping him from yelling said chain of swears aloud - or, perhaps, leaving the words be and jumping straight to attacking him - was the reminder that this Saiou Takuma wasn't the one from his own world, and therefore did not deserve what that bastard did.

Not that he trusted him or liked him or could stand to see his face or anything like that, though.

Face set in a rather furious manner, Manjoume managed to say in a low, angered tone, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I believe this is public property," said Saioh levelly. "I see no signs saying I cannot walk here if I choose. If you must know, I am taking my butterfly for a walk." The butterfly in question, apparently confused as to why Saioh stopped walking, lit on his shoulder and fluttered as if trying to make him move again.

All right, so Manjoume couldn't exactly argue the public property bit. But if anything, that only got him even more annoyed - now they were both stuck in the same spot, unable to move, for who knew how long.

"Couldn't you have taken your butterfly for a walk somewhere else?!" he snapped.
