Siegfried remained blissfully unaware of Pegasus's culinary exploits. He had settled himself by a window with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. As long as he remained inside and warm, the snow didn't bother him. And the blanket of chilly whiteness outside reminded Siegfried of home. If the snows had fallen at home, no doubt Leon would be outside doing whatever one supposedly did for fun

"That," said Pegasus, as he began ushering Siegfried out of the kitchen, "was awful. I am obviously having a bad influence on you. Well done."

"I would have thought that the snowball was hint enough that you are a bad influence," Siegfried murmured as he allowed Pegasus to lead him out of the kitchen.

"A snowball, you could have learned anywhere," said Pegasus. "The atrocious pun - in English, no less - has fewer possible origins."

Siegfried merely shrugged, not entirely sure of Pegasus's reasoning. "I'm not sure you can take the blame. My English has been good long before we met. Although if you would prefer a pun in German, then answer me this: According to Sigmund Freud, what comes between fear and sex?"

Pegasus looked at him quizzically. "I don't know, and I don't know if I want to know."

Siegfried looked puzzled, thinking that it wasn't like Pegasus to not want the punchline. "Fünf," he answered anyway.

Pegasus snickered. "Cute. Not as bad as the first one, but definitely points for trying."

Siegfried sipped at his wine, feeling rather pleased with himself anyway. "You laughed, so it served its purpose."

"Oh, you'll never cease to amuse me, my dear," Pegasus assured him. "One way or another."

"You are not exactly difficult to amuse," Siegfried countered good-naturedly.

"Well, that's so," Pegasus agreed, "but that does not change the fact that you are far more fascinating to me than the average person on the street."

[sieggyrose]

"I do work hard to be more fascinating than most," Siegfried pointed out. "You have complained often enough of how long I spend primping in the bathroom to know this."

Pegasus laughed. "I won't argue that it's time well-spent. Far be it from me to tell anyone not to attempt to beautify the world," he said. "Though you shouldn't underestimate the appeal of your personality."

Siegfried set his mug down so that he could drape his arms lightly over Pegasus's shoulders. "I suppose it is good to know that you don't just love me because I am beautiful."

"Of course I don't just love you because you are beautiful. If I merely wanted something to look at, I could paint whatever I could imagine," said Pegasus. "I love you because you are clever and passionate and challenging... and even because you're vain and scheming and all the rest. It's more fun that way."
