Wolf's senses were ringing and bothering him like a nest of swarming bees. He was used to his nose being better than normal humans, he was even used to his hearing and eyesight being just a touch more keen than those without half-wolf blood in them, but he was not used to this utterly strange sensation of being able to feel all the world at once. It hurt and stung, but felt utterly wonderful at the same time. It made him think of that Force thing that Alema had spoken about once or twice - the magic-like power that knights like her called upon to help them.

Wolves were not meant to be more magical than they already were. They were certainly not meant to be knights... but his new awareness added to the strange cylindrical weapon that had appeared on his belt the night before was enough to convince Wolf that he had (at least temporarily) been changed into one of the Jedi that his lifelong mate already was

"You're made of magic?" His eyebrows lifted in surprise. "You seem pretty fancy for a golem."

"I'm made of science. Alchemy is a science." Envy said, making a face. Magic was like religion. It was all crap. "And I'm a homunculus, not a golem."

The young man folded his arms and looked skeptical. "What's the difference?" He itched at a place behind his ear, his fingers flicking quickly like a dog with a need to scratch.

"The difference," Envy said, mouth twisting in distaste, "is that magic is all bull. The only thing that's real is science."

Wolf put his hands behind his head in a lazy gesture as he leaned more fully against the tree. "Seems to me that what is 'science' and what is 'magic' are peoples perceptions...sort of. Making a person seems like magic to me."

"They didn't make me," Envy scoffed. "They remade me. Homunculi are dead people people bring back."

[huffpuffpuppy]

The young man sneezed suddenly. "So that's why you smell so strange."

"What the hell do you mean by that?!" Envy growled.

Wolf looked uncomfortable. He didn't mean to offend anyone, even this slightly rude homo-whatever person. "It's not a bad smell or anything." The young man ran a hand through his hair again, fingers twining in the messy locks. "Just... different."
