What might have been more surprising was that the girl who approached Sylvanas was just that: a young girl, to all appearances no older than in her early teen years. She had blue hair, and eyes that were now too dark to call anything but black; they had an almost glassy appearance. The clothing was somewhat strange, with something like a sailor-suit top and a short skirt, those knee-high boots, and black markings that decorated the uniform's collar, boots, and even the tiara she wore. On her wrist was a black bracer, an odd counterpart to the Econtra control cuff opposite it ( ... )

“Good evening,” Sylvanas returned neutrally, taking in the image of the girl. The walk and the smirk fit the tone she had heard over the communicators. “You are Mercury?”

In one sense, the dark ranger's voice was firm and decisive. But it had a raspy, whispering quality as though her vocal cords had been damaged. Frankly, it was not hard to tell why by looking at her. The only skin she revealed - her face - looked damaged, bluish. It stretched tightly over her cheekbones. Her eyes glowed white, dark-rimmed from some long-gone fatigue. Her lanky, pale blond hair was hidden under a hood. Mizuno Ami may not remember, but Sylvanas Windrunner was no longer quite among the living.

A sword was in the girl's hand so naturally it was hard to think it hadn't always been there - but it hadn't, a moment earlier. It was translucent somehow, as though made of ice, which it was. Mercury raised it directly in front of herself and pointing upwards, near-salute rather than direct threat.

"From the Dark Kingdom, senshi of Water and Knowledge, Mercury." The sword was lowered as it had been raised, the words nothing but traditional formal introduction and identification: House, position, name. Other titles were unimportant, for now.

To simply communicate, the devices they all had in Econtra were largely sufficient. Perhaps this woman had something to say and was smart enough to deduce, or had read, that the Warden had access to all communicator records. Perhaps there was something to show Mercury rather than tell her. Perhaps she had simply been curious. Mercury had come largely for the third reason, herself, and took in the other's appearance briefly.

A salute. A subtle threat too, with a blade. Still, the motion was smooth and quick, and the blade did not go back into its sheath. Well, Sylvanas did not trust the girl either, but she had the decency to keep her weapons down.

The elf was primarily an archer. She had once boasted of being the best in Azeroth, able to hit a bird's eye in flight during the deepest night. In close combat, the dark ranger was only a little less of a threat. She had cut down many a fool Alliance raiding band that had dared approach her chamber. The scimitar that had done so hung at her hip. The grandly carved Sunstrider Bow rested, strung, against her back, with the wire crossing her chest.

The Dark Lady of the Forsaken, standing there in stained, worn leather armor, was not impressed by the costume. She watched herself being watched, then spoke:

"Sylvanas Windrunner, if you haven't heard." She was tired of introducing herself. Let the girl think she was unimportant where she came from. "What do you want to talk to me about?"
