Rumor was most definitely not a morning person. Not like there was anything particularly wrong with the mornings, it was just... it was the morning and she had more important things to be doing, like sleeping. Sleeping definitely ranked up there as being important.

Though the past couple of days it was a cranky and rumpled Rumor that had found her way down to the park to watch the training sessions. At first, she kept out of the way, watching from the trees in order to gauge the other participants -- there were quite a few novices, but most of them weren't all that bad, when you got down to it. Rough around the edges, but they were learning. And hey, aikido. That was always a good place to start. Her own team had begun around there before moving on to bigger and badder things.

Today, though, Rumor had decided to make herself more present, lazily meandering her way around the periphery of the students before settling herself at the base of a tree, hands behind her head and legs stretched out in front of her, watching with a grin.

Robin hadn't missed that they'd been observed -- in a compound the size of econtra, it was rather hard to avoid attracting notice. So he'd noted the presence in the trees, noted that it seemed to be becoming a regular thing, and proceeded to get on with things.

The girl watching them from beneath the tree was just about the last person Robin had expected to be their observer. If he wasn't already aware that Rumor seemed scornful of anything Econtra's other super-heroes did, her appearance, or her hair -- blue streaked with pink -- suggested that she was more about fun than serious pursuits. Still, Robin made his way over to greet her with a rueful smile. People in econtra surprised you. And you had to admit that nothing Rumor had done so far had been typical.

"Same pink as Lyle's hair," he noted. "Rumor?"

"Bingo~!" The grin on the hero's face only got bigger when Robin mentioned the Legionnaire's hair. That had been good. Really good. She'd have to do that more often.

And hey, she'd have to thank that kid anyway. If it weren't for his team, her recent seriousness about the place would never have come about. It was a spite thing, really, but on the upside it got Rumor motivated to actually do something other than cause general chaos; that had been bumped down to second on her list of Awesome Things to do in the Middle of Nowhere. "Nice little setup you have here, kid. Thought I'd check it out, see the competition."

Robin had a feeling that he'd just done Lyle a very bad turn -- Rumor's grin was trouble.

He didn't know what to make of his companion's next remark, however. She could be flippant, sure. But from the brief conversation they'd shared a few days ago, Robin knew that Rumor was fully capable of being serious when she wanted -- and he liked his hair the way it was. "I think we're making good progress," he said with a shrug unable to fully prevent a grin of his own. "Even counting for bias. You going to join us?"

"So some of the people here can learn to fight," Kragok said, leaning back against a tree in the park, crossing his arms. To tell the truth, he found himself horribly unimpressed by most of the hand-to hand fighters present, but then no one save his universe's version of Knuckles had ever been able to equal him and defeat him in combat. He found himself looking forward to continuing Robin's training, to teaching him Echidna-fashion martial arts. The red-furred Grandmaster almost hoped Robin would be able to defeat him. Maybe then he would finally have another equal, a rival worthy of matching in this place.

"Your lover has also requested that I spar with her and teach her what I can of fighting," the Echidna replied, glancing down with a smirk to the human below his perch.

It took Robin a few seconds to process the Grand Master's statement. Surely anyone could learn? Why was that a surprise? He bit his tongue though. Kragok's scorn of humans was no secret, and Robin turned to the echidna, intending to greet him politely and coolly.

Kragok's next words defeated that endeavour entirely.

WHAT. WHAT.

"What's the matter, Robin?" Kragok asked, the sneer obvious on his face, "is your tongue having trouble working? Your lover won't appreciate that, I'm sure!" Was he trying to get a rise out of the boy? Yes and no. He was really wanting to see what the lad could already do when he went all out, and this seemed as good a way as any to rile him up.

Or make Robin flee.

"I can speak just fine!" he protested, caught somewhere between mortification, anger, and panic -- in the end, it was the knowledge that Harley had been in the compound that kept Robin from just deciding that discretion is the better part of valour. "And not only is that none of your business but you're not exactly helping us any -- we're keeping things quiet. With Harley here, anyone close to me could end up a target."

As she saw the group of people at the Park, Rei guessed that it could be the training session she had agreed to join.
It had been a while since she hadn't measured up to anyone being an actual expert at fighting; Kai had been a strong opponent, perhaps stronger than herself, but he didn't offer much in technique. The only people had really sparred with were back in her village's tribe, and practiced kung fu almost as religiously as she did.
She approached the boy who seemed to lead the group.
''Um, hi. Is it the training session?'', she asked, just in case.

((ooc: new!, even if she said to be interested in training a few days ago; is it alright? XD;;)))

Robin looked up in surprise -- he'd been concentrating on the practice session and had missed Rei's approach. "Hi," he said, trying to place her. Training session -- they must have talked. "I'm Robin. And that's right -- if you're looking to train, you're in the right place."

((ooc: So sorry -- I'm just off to bed now! I'll be around tomorrow though -- look forward to threading with you then. And yes, perfectly all right!))

''Oh, alright then. I'm Rei.'' she greeted back with a soft smile.
''Are we training as a group here or are people going at their own pace?'', she inquired, actually wondering how she'd fit in the session. She really liked the concept of this morning training, although she was not a morning person.

"We're doing the practice forms as a group," Robin explained, waving a hand toward the group. "Then we'll introduce today's new moves and pair up to practice them. After that, it's free practice time. The more advanced students pair up to spar and the beginners can practice on their own or with a teacher. It's really up to you."

" Morning Robin..I know you're an early riser, but my name's Nightwing for a reason" Dick quipped walking over to his younger counterpart and standing beside him. It was easy to see the teen was in a good mood, something that had been rare as of late when he saw him. Robin was starting to--ok he had grown on him during his time in Econtra and he hated the thought now of seeing him go if the time came that he did 'leave'.

" Looks like we've got a good group going..have any in mind you want me to start with?" Scanning the different groups it was easy to see who was more skilled than others. Masked eyes turned upward toward the sky squinting in the bright light of the morning sun then turned back to Robin. Had he really been that short at that age?

It was a very good thing that Robin wasn't aware of his older counterpart's thoughts, or that good mood would have been seriously challenged. Was he sensitive about his height? Oh yes.

"There's a couple of cracks about early birds that I could be making here," he said, greeting Nightwing with a high-five. "But I'll spare us both." He turned back to watch the practice, considering the trainees. "We could probably get some pair work in before we start on today's new forms -- Lyle's learning fast. You could probably help him a lot."

"Yes please spare me I think I've heard enough of them from riddler and the joker" Dick returned the high-five and then turned to watch the trainees. Lyle looked like he had a good amount of potential..a good candidate for a sparing partner.

" I'd like to try that..who knows he might learn something from it"

Robin shook his head at his older counterpart -- surely they both knew there was a lot they could teach Lyle? Still, his reply was mild. "Don't let him near any pressure points. He's got a very precise aim."

It seemed to be Robin's morning for being surprised -- he blinked, his grin broadening though he ducked his head, a bit embarrassed by Quatre's words. "Everyone's working really hard," he said by way of explanation. "And they're a good group."

He considered Quatre thoughtfully, as he replied -- this was the first time he'd seen the older boy in person since his disappearance and return.

Robin saw the change in Quatre's manner and smiled quietly by way of apology. "You must be hearing this a lot," he said, "but it's good to see you again."
