Characters: OU: Mizuno Ami/Mercury, *OPEN* Where: the roof of Apartment Building 2 When: after the fight with AU!PGSM!Mars Summary: Mercury sorting things out in... privacy? Perhaps. Warnings: none, really
Azula had many things happen to her, and there really wasn't much time to devote to the day to think of things. On the surface, she still got along with Zuko very well, and she was convincing him to be more honest with Mai. The two of them were getting along better, and Mai's betrayal, she knew, was more of a result of how she once was. Now that she felt this way, however, there was nowhere to run from all the things she'd done. It made her disquieted, and many of her dreams had her in a cold sweat

Mercury never wholly appreciated being interrupted in these moments of searching. She turned around abruptly, a single motion, the challenge, "Who's there?" already on her lips, voiced gruffly and backed by her sword. It lowered as she registered the visitor's identity as Azula. The stern expression dropped to a half-flippant smirk.
"It has!" she agreed. The blue-haired girl left the question unanswered, at least directly.
"The princess Mars was defeated." The words lacked either regret or triumph; it was simply information. "Her ginzuishou is damaged." Under normal circumstances, it would be celebrated fully, that sort of success. In Econtra, celebrations were rare. But she knew what she had done, what the three of them - her, the senshi Mars, and Kunzite - had accomplished.
Azula smiled. How like Mercury to be on her guard, although it made her wonder what had been on the blue haired senshi's mind lately to act in such a manner. She would certainly want to hear more about what was happening to her lately.
"And this is a good thing, isn't it? As you have always said, the senshi are your enemy, and you have repeatedly reminded me you did not approve of my acquaintance with Sailor Uranus. Yet you don't seem to be very pleased by this accomplishment."
"I want to know I did it for myself," Mercury said after another moment of introspection to arrive at the idea. The concept that 'the ginzuishou cannot be used to destroy now' was what she wanted, of that she was sure. The concept that 'Mars had to be hurt to accomplish that' was... necessary. But she wanted to know the truth, about that side of her that had rejoiced and that side of her that hadn't liked it. How much was her?
She'd been looking out over the city again, letting her eyes wander from the trees and green growth of the park to the pond. Her thoughts echoed his words briefly. She was unused to many people frequenting the rooftops as she did - although it was certainly more common here than it had been in her world where she'd gone there alone day after day. Still, it was a public place. If she'd wanted no chance at all of someone else arriving, she should have gone elsewhere.
As a result, Mercury did not outwardly object to the new arrival's presence, but nor did she turn around to greet him. After a moment, what she did say was simply, "I like it like this." As she was still facing away from him, the implication was that she enjoyed the solitude the place usually did offer.
Even in a livelier mood, Achmed would have been met by teasing wit or humor rather than anger. In this quieter humor, Mercury simply accepted his presence. Admittedly, it made it harder to fall back into reflection. Illogical as it was, the presence of another made it hard to even let herself think about the issues on her mind, as if she were afraid the thoughts would accidentally suddenly become voiced, or that he'd hear them. Perhaps that wasn't so paranoid a thought in Econtra, but it would have been overthinking by far in Mercury's own world.
He had the bearing of a warrior; she noticed that about her somewhat companion. The look he leveled on the city was one used to appraisal and caution. She inwardly approved.
When she turned her head away from the man again, Mercury found herself sinking back into thought. She considered the theory that it was possible to dismiss her half-memories as the false ones.
Ilyana felt a bit trapped. She was confused out of her wits thanks to the truth spell and would normally go to the library to try and clear out her mind. Unfortunately she was too afraid of running into Harth at the library to be able to go there. She somehow found herself on the roof without even meaning to go there.
She walked a few steps onto the roof before she noticed someone else up there. She meant to say 'sorry, are you seeking privacy' but it ended up coming out as "Are you privacy seeking, sorry?" She grimaced as she realized that she was so confused that her sentances weren't even coming out correctly. "Sorry, I meant to ask if you wanted privacy..." she said with a small sigh.
The roof had gone from 'private' to 'offering moderate solitude' to 'popular'. Ironic. In a less quiet humor, the blue-haired girl might have made a light-hearted joke about it. As it was, Mercury supposed she didn't really mind. No one truly liked to be alone, did they? Even when they had something to figure out.
Mercury turned around. The quirk of speech was more interesting. This girl must be preoccupied indeed.
Ilyana hadn't actually expected her to reply back and the answer was shocked out of her before her mind could mangle it. "Ilyana." She blinked a couple of times and then asked, "who you a- I mean, who are you?" Her mind was really not working correctly at the moment.
"From the Dark Kingdom, senshi of Water and Knowledge, Mercury." A brief motion of the sword to a challenge position, then lowered again.
The blue-haired girl eyed her interruption now. Ilyana seemed meek, quiet. Timid. An accurate perception, or was the other girl distracted, too? Mercury didn't ask.
A tall, slender form wandered the streets of the compound quietly, the long tails of his coat flicking against his heels. A sort of long, leisurely gait graced his movements, his head tipped back to gaze up at the sky - and at the tops of the buildings. Curiosity had been the Doctor's one great strength, and one of his tremendous weaknesses. It had gotten him into more trouble than he cared to think about at the moment. Though for the time being, the Doctor was simply out for a stroll, hands in pockets. Dark eyes swept the rooftops, landed on Mercury's figure silhouetted in the distance.
A pause in his step. A hand lifted in greeting, the faint ghost of a smile on his youthful features. The Doctor saw her, but clearly had no intention of intruding. Simply making himself known, and then, if ignored, moving onward.
Ahsoka was not a resident of the second building, but had been exploring it. Walking through the halls and taking in the similarities between this building and the third one where she dwelled, along with the stark contrasts. If she was going to be stuck in this world, this compound, for a while, she might as well get to know her surroundings. If she had learned anything from Grand Master Yoda while a youngling participating in his group instructions, it was that a Jedi was better able to move around in a place they knew than an area they were unfamiliar with. She'd experienced this first-hand, as she'd instantly found dueling in the training rooms of the Temple much more easier than the streets of Christophsis or that monastery on Teth. She'd been distracted by using the Force to brush upon the layout of her surroundings that she'd left herself open for attack--something Asajj Ventress would have taken advantage of, had it not been for the impeccable timing of her master
( ... )
"Ahsoka Tano," she said, putting her hands together in front of her and bowing in the way she had been taught. This other girl wasn't a Republic citizen, but that did not mean Ahsoka was going to forgo being polite and respectful, especially of someone she was almost certain was older than her.
"From the Dark Kingdom, senshi of Water and Knowledge, Mercury." A formal presentation of the sword, quickly lowered again.
"I'm pleased to meet you." Habitually polite phrasing.
Mercury took in the other's appearance. Certainly Ahsoka was no stranger-looking than some of the youma she'd fought. She looked young, but it was hard to say. The senshi's own appearance and actual age differed greatly. Polite, modest, respectful. That might have been a twinge of nostalgia. She'd once been that formal, quiet girl.
A glance back out away from the roof and over the city.

The question didn't need to be asked with a sword anymore; Mercury had gotten used to interruption during this time spent on the roof.
