As with any fair, the sounds of chattering and laughter and merriment had their place. They were subdued, given Econtra's small size and perhaps also its situation, but they existed nonetheless. Groups mingled, small or large, circles expanding to include others and then contracting again if their members left. They combined into one and broke into several. Some held food from the cookout, some wore their summer kimono with varying levels of comfort or awkwardness. This was a moment to forget the pressing war for just a few hours.

"It would be best not to tempt fate, it can be a terrible thing, after all," She replied. Wave couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the blue spotted dog comment, and also wondered why it was that she hadn't been affected by these things. But, taking her own advice, she decided not to dawn on it.

It took a while for Rei to decide on whether or not to wear the pink yukata that had apparently been destined to her. While it did flatter her appearance, and the little aesthetic sense she had praised how good the kimono looked, she looked now like a girl, and looking like a girl felt strange; the only reason she had for wearing it was a need for change, and boy, she thought, approaching the park, did the park look changed too!
Surprised by the chatter around the place, she slowly walked among the booths or tables. So a festival was held. Held in a military compound, which looked less and less like one through everyday of the week she'd been here.
What kind of festival would it be? It could very well be the Magpie fest, considering the date. She approached the groups of people, both embarassed at the idea of being recognized and so, so curious.

She was enjoying the broad range of designs, patterns, colors. It was far preferable to the dull, dreary half-grey meant-to-be-whites of the aged and half-ruined buildings of Econtra. Her own color had always been that brilliant, blazing red of fire and flame. Monochrome didn't suit her - as little as she would have probably admitted that aloud.

During a break from her own booth, when Mars noticed a girl lingering on the fringes of the crowd, she approached. "Good evening."

She looked around, and greeted back politely. ''Good evening.'' She looked back at the sets of colors and patterns that decorated the festival. ''It is a good surprise to have a festival over here.'', she said, looking back at the person with a smile. She felt awkward talking to someone while being dressed in this attire, but her tone was thankfully serene.

"It's held every summer in my world," Mars said. "And I don't think taking this war seriously has to mean giving things like this up." She'd argued about that with Jadeite, who'd mildly ridiculed her for paying attention to 'frivolities' instead of her mission and duty here and to her world, but she had disagreed. This was also important.

''Oh, they have a similar festival in my world too, which falls around this date.'' While she did know the Japanese Tanabata, she attended the similar Magpie Festival more often, back in her town in China.
The thought about war made her smile falter a little. While a certain someone she knew would whack that person on the head for thinking how this couldn't be abandones, it's not like any of these people agreed to go to war.
After a little pause, she spoke again: ''And it must have been much needed. Thank you for the effort put into it.''. She was obviously the organizer, and had to be praised what looked like a very enjoyable festival, despite the nostalagia it brought.

In her town? Mars knew of several countries that celebrated the festival, or at least knew the story of its origins. It didn't narrow things down much, except that it was likely this girl came from a version of Earth with a human history similar to that in Mars' own world.

"Where are you from?"

''China'', she answered shortly. ''A small mountain village, though. We used to travel to bigger towns for these kinds of festivals.''
She looked slightly wistful now, but tried to push away the fact that she'll probably never know when she'll come back. Not only the Bladebreakers, but also her old friends from that village must be worried now.
She decided then that there was no reason to dwell over this. They were all in the same situation, afterall, and this person was actually trying to lighten the mood.
''Glad that the Japanese version is less centered on newly married women, though.'', she spoke again with a small laugh, remebering how she cringed everytime that, right after she was 10, her mother started wanting to attribute her her actual gender's role in the village, and therefore reveal how unfit of a leader she would be.

He shuffled, glancing through the various faces around him but never lingering on those he didn't recognize. It appeared his return home and the life in Econtra had taken the same amount of time. Lyle pressed a hand against his obi in subconscious worry, hoping he had tied the black clothe right under more important musings.

He had been home. Plunked far from the Legion, yes, and still in the middle of his mission. But he had never felt so happy to hear Cosmic Boy yell at him over their Ring intercom. Needless to say, it was another shock when he'd literally been tossed back into Econtra. Luckily the yukata had been there to break his fall. It was odd how similar to his new uniform the thing was; a shade of red, with black cumulating in the front, visible corner of the outfit and dissipating off into little black circles near his knees. The collar and obi were also black ( ... )

The Indigeo was skilled at reading people. How else could it, connected to the cuffs, read their intentions and apply those to its settings in order to activate in certain situations? And while it tended to be literal-minded and straightforward, it was often able to read enough information to provide fitting variants of a mass-requested item.

Mars had been taking some time from her booth, enjoying the fair for herself. When she saw the black yukata standing somewhat alone, she approached him.

"Good evening."

" Lyle you're home" Dick said walking over to the teen his Yukata sporting a bright blue phoenix on his chest an right shoulder, who's tail stretched all the way around back to the bottom hem of the yukata. " I missed you kiddo"

" Mars" Dick replied with a small bow acknowledging the priestess.

They were both friends, then. Mars quirked her head at the comment, however.

"Home?" The question might have been towards what had apparently taken the other boy away, or the idea of considering this version of earth 'home'. Mars couldn't quite go that far.

(ooc: no biggie. most of the senshi have been open about both identities which is why I said he might have even heard it somewhere. She's just newer and still O_O to Econtra. XD)

He might notice a somewhat familiar face passing through the crowd nearby. Even if not, Naoki had certainly noticed him. The Demi-Fiend had to stop and do a double-take to even be sure he was seeing what he thought he was.

He moved towards Lyle as quickly as his yukata would allow, stopping just short of the other two that were already around him. If Lyle was still angry with him over what had happened before, he didn't want to risk getting to close just yet. In fact, he had half a mind to turn around and just walk away, but something else wouldn't let him.

He was back. And on Tanabata of all nights.

"Hello. I don't believe we've met." Lyle admitted to the young woman. She was really pretty, but he didn't know her face. Had she arrived her while he had been gone ( ... )
