By the time of the festival, this corner of the park would be alight with colorful paper lanterns and beautified by banners with sorely-needed felicitous messages of comfort and hope. Booths, tables really, sat on either side of the pathway offering various entertainments while the distinct smell of a cookout hung on the air. The efforts had not been in vain, and the overall effect, at least in this part of the park, was indeed that of a city festival.
