While Ryou would not have been kidnapped if he'd actually been given a choice in the matter, he couldn't help but somewhat interested in the results of this duel. After all, as far as he could tell at the moment, this would be the duel that he hadn't seen in his world because he'd died beforehand. He trusted that Juudai would do his best, even though as far as he knew, the other hadn't dueled at all since his Haou phase had passed. But the trust was still there.

Asuka watched silently; she wondered just how this was going to end. She knew something of what had happened in her world, but was it going to be the same here? There was no way to know...and just a lot of hope that Juudai was ready for this now.

Johan's face hurt. Yubel hadn't exactly been that gentle when she'd taken him after all. He was reasonably sure there was, or would be, a bruise there, but it was hard for him to be sure. And there were more important things to worry about: like watching this duel and cheering for Juudai.

Fubuki watched, looking a bit lost. After a stay in the shadows and the experience of having Darkness messing with his life, he was almost coming to expect that things like this were going to involve him. But why did they have to drag Ryou into it? And Asuka? If Yubel did anything permanent to them, he wouldn't know what to do. All he could bring himself to do was watch - not the duel, but the people he loved.

Ryou glanced over and saw Fubuki watching them before he looked back to the duel itself. All things considered, that was a great deal more fascinating to him than anything else at the moment. The plays that Juudai and Yubel were using intrigued him, and he tried his best to figure out what would happen next and who had the best chance of winning.

Though, in a duel like this, he did wonder just what the consequences of winning or losing could be.

Asuka also noticed Fubuki's worry and confusion. She gave him the best hopeful smile that she could, then jerked her head some to indicate Ryou. "He never changes, does he?" After all, their friend was all but staring at the duel before them as if he fully intended to give a critique afterwards.

Fubuki found a smile for his sister. "He really doesn't. I don't know anyone else who could think about dueling technique at a time like this."

((OOC: And I'm home for the night now hopefully. Yayz. This is all totally ganked from canon because I'm uncreative... probably.))

"I will begin. I summon Sacrifice Lotus in attack position," Yubel said. Atop a lilypad, a vaguely demonic-looking lotus sprite appeared on the field at her command. Juudai felt a twinge of deja vu at that point -- he knew this was Yubel's deck, and that he should remember it, but... it was all still somewhat fuzzy.

"I place one card face-down and activate Magic Chronicle, in order to record our future, Juudai..."

It was almost a taunting tone in which she explained her move, but she was serious, they both knew. "When this card is activated, I remove five cards from play... and I choose these five."

The card in plainest sight, she made sure, was Super Fusion -- Juudai blinked. Why would she be sending Super Fusion out of play if she planned to use it?

"You'll understand soon. End turn."

"Draw!"

Juudai stared at his hand for a moment, silently issuing a prayer to his deck as Yubel watched with her knowing eyes.

Help me create a miracle... my heroes...!"I play Polymerization to fuse the Burst Lady and Featherman in my hand in order to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman ( ... )

"My turn. I sacrifice the two Demon Balsam Seeds to summon Spirit Demon Rose in attack mode. And it will attack your Flame Wingman."

Juudai looked rather surprised. "Attack with a zero attack monster?" He wanted to add Are you suicidal? at first, but realized that would be a bad question to ask, considering both the situation and the person he was talking to ( ... )

"Draw. I summon Elemental Hero Sparkman in attack mode, and equip him with Spark Gun!"

Yubel almost wanted to laugh, saying nothing as another Chronicle Counter was added to the scroll. That's right, Juudai, keep recklessly using your magic cards... it's so like you to be reckless and thoughtless, after all. I know this better than anyone.

"By the effect of Spark Gun, Spirit Demon Rose is switched to defense mode. Then Sparkman will attack it!" Juudai said, continuing to keep up his stoic front.

With a loud, fizzling burst of electricity, the demonic rose, curled into a defensive position, was destroyed, leaving behind two smaller roses -- the Demon Rose tokens with 1200 attack -- in its wake.

Clearly not too pleased with the way the duel was headed currently, Juudai growled. "Turn end."

Otogi was a lot angrier than his relatively mild post in his journal had let on. If he got much angrier, he suspected his cuff would stat reacting. The mere thought of Fubuki in some kind of danger infuriated him. And as he stepped into the cloud, as soon as he was able to see what was going on, he started to look around for him.

It didn't take long to find Fubuki either, and everyone else there, tied up in vines. He relaxed just a little; Fubuki was all right as far as he could tell. But he didn't relax too much: there was a duel going on. And he had an idea that this duel would determine who came out of this in one piece and who didn't.

"Hey, gorgeous," he said, moving around to be a bit closer to Fubuki but not too close to that other creature who was not Juudai. "What're you doing in a place like this?"

Fubuki brightened perceptibly as soon as he saw Otogi.

"Watching those two fight," he said. "Not much else I can do, is there?"

Otogi glanced back at the duelists, then at his lover. "You know, usually I'm the one being kidnapped or whatever." He grinned slightly. "How many other roles do we want to reverse?"

"I'll tell you one thing - I'd much rather be your captive than hers," Fubuki said.

Admittedly, Yusuke wasn't feeling as good as he could have been - he must have gotten less sleep than he thought he had, because following Otogi to the cloud in the Park wound up more tiring than usually it would have been. But he was determined to get over there.

After all, the last time Ryou had gone missing...

Well, he didn't like to think about what had happened in March too much, though stress from unintentional flashbacks to that as he made his way certainly wasn't helping. Ryou... everyone would be fine... everyone was fine ( ... )

Ryou glanced only briefly when he heard Otogi and Fubuki speaking to each other. But his attention was caught and held by something else: the furious look on Yusuke's face when he came into sight.

That look...that sheerly beautiful look of raw anger and rage...

Ryou had known for quite some time that Yusuke was attractive. But for one of the few times in his life, his attention was actually drawn away from a fantastic duel to stare at someone else. Granted, this someone else was his boyfriend, someone who held a deep place in his heart...

He did manage to speak somewhat coherently, however. "Yes. Are you?"

A large part of Yusuke was greatly relieved when he heard Ryou's response. He was all right, he was still himself, everything would be all right, he could be freed from those vine things and everything would be completely fine.

Of course, the rest was still very worried about the fact that he was tied up.

"Worried about you," was his response, and it couldn't be more true.

"I'm fine." Ryou was still intrigued by the duel, but he was even more intrigued by Yusuke and that look of raw anger at the moment. As far as he was concerned, everything would be settled once the duel was over, though he wasn't certain of the exact mechanics of how that would be.
