Characters: OU Yubel, OU Yuuki Juudai, OPEN, particularly to those kidnapped and those who care to watch the duel
Where: The really big cloud that has suddenly appeared in the middle of the Park
When: Night, forward-dated about an hour from this posting
Summary: THE TIME IS NIGH. Yubel finishes Super Fusion at last and snatches most of Juudai's friends to lure him down to duel her one final time... or is it the last time? Juudai has other ideas, actually.
Warnings: Crazy, crazy, crazy. Yubel is a warning.
Notes: The main thread is one anyone can ninja in on, but it will mainly be self-played by myself -- Juudai and Yubel -- comment by comment. I'm a masochist, I am sorry. But if any spectators wish to affirm their presence, then do make a new thread. Kidnapped people should be conscious, so do feel free to converse amongst yourselves. EDIT 7/30: The main thread is just about complete now, but if you were late to the party and still want to join in, no worries -- just post a comment anyway and it can be said to be backdated, particularly if you're a spectator.
Juudai barreled desperately down the stairs of the apartment building, thundering out the door and down the street. He was greeted with the sight of a large cloud right in the middle of the park. That was his target, he knew. There was only one thing left for her to do... and if she started it, not even the cuffs would be able to stop it.
He rushed into the cloud's thick gases, not bothering with hesitation any longer. Hesitation was partially what had made the situation get so bad in the first place, and now he had no choice but to stop it, because failing to do so would mean everyone else's end, the end of his friends, the end of his world--
"Juudai."
She was waiting within at one end of the reserved space, arms crossed and surrounded by his friends, all tied in vines behind her. Surprisingly, there were no thorns lining the vines -- knowing Yubel, he was sure she was going to harm them somehow, but it seems they were only a lure this time. Perhaps she thought it wasn't worth wasting the energy when they would be gone soon enough anyway.
"Stop it. Let them go." A futile attempt by him to command her to release his friends; they didn't deserve this, all because of his own initial mistake, which spiralled out of control in its own time. And besides that, the added pressure of having his friends watching him attempt to save the fate of not one, but two universes this time... he didn't know if he could handle it.
"I cannot do that, Juudai."
The responsibility, the weight of what had to happen here... would the outcome be the same, now that so many things had changed?
"You'll hurt them," he insisted levelly.
"Some things are all pain," Yubel shot back easily. "Love is one of those things. Do you remember, Juudai? Every moment of every day, I cried for you, called to you, no matter how far away I was... but one day, you stopped answering me, as though my cries had stopped reaching. You had forgotten about me... and yet, I still suffered. Which is worse, the pain of betrayal, or the pain of being forgotten? Is this the way you truly love me?"
Juudai had no answer for her. There was nothing he could say that would make it right. Words would mean nothing now; there was nothing he could say that would ultimately make her understand, make her see things the way they truly were...
"But my doubts are gone now, the ones that made me question whether you truly loved me or not," she continued. "You do, though, don't you? It is why you hurt me so, isn't it...? But now, all that remains of those doubts is the promise of the imminent future, in which I can love you forever... and no one else will have to cause you pain again. And certainly not your worthless friends." The emphasized word was spoken as though it was a curse. Juudai kept a straight face, however, no matter what, using all the resolve he had in every fiber of his being.
"And I was certainly not wrong in my ambitions, because here you are now, right in front of me, and I am about to succeed, over all others. With the power of the Light... now that I can accomplish what is right for both of us, you will realize my love now, won't you?"
Juudai, again, was at a loss for an answer. He looked at Yubel intensely, finally finding the words that would suit his feelings at the moment.
"There's no way I can explain this to you. You'll have to duel me... only then can I make you understand."
"Make me understand?" she scoffed. "I understand everything. But a duel -- yes, I do agree. Now, come to me, Juudai. Love me the way I've always loved you, be with me forever--!"
Taking one last lingering glance at his friends, he looked back to Yubel and turned his duel disk on.
Now or never, he thought. And spending never in eternity would be a long, long time.
"Duel!"
