[MODPLOT; WAR GAMES] STAGE 3

Although it seemed to drag on and on in the chaos and confusion, truthfully not much time passed between the Keepers' possession of the Warden -- only a few hours at most. Nearly as soon as the chaos within the compound had started, it ended, with the Warden falling lifelessly to the ground as if he were a marionette who's strings had just been cut ( Read more... )

Asuka was safe in her apartment and things seemed to have calmed down, so Ryoko was out in the compound. She was walking past the Clinic when she noticed the Warden on the ground. Being careful, she walked over to him and knelt on the ground next to him.

"H-hello?" She said quietly, reaching out to gently shake him. She couldn't pick him up, so hopefully someone else would come along.

Atem peeked out of the clinic window, ears flat, before growling and limping outside. "What happened?" she asked, tail brushed out to twice its normal size.

It had been impossible to ignore the call of power the luminescent beings cast out into the earthly plane below them. Being cursed with immortality of soul and body, they could not harm her--unfortunate, she almost thought. For sometimes she wondered what life was like beyond eternity. And while she did not at all take kindly to being tossed into another prison by them, she refrained from attacking them. The angel was intent on discovering a weakness. And she could, if anyone was able to.

Currently she stood over the form of a fallen human, badly burned and in need of healing. Humans were so easily damaged, she thought, remembering her own days trapped in an endless cycle of death. Alexiel's face showed no emotion as indeed she felt none but curiosity.

Mosquiton didn't like fighting. It had always seemed such a waste to him that the fascinating mortal creatures he met seemed so intent on shortening their already short lives. On the other hand, he had no fear for his own safety, so now he was walking about to see what was going on.

"He looks a bit of a mess, doesn't he?" he commented idly to a bystander.

Neither did she have any fear for her safety--the point was moot. She was cursed. Immortality of the soul and body were not reversible. While the wars had given her something to live for and aspire to, now it was just dull without Lucifel. The former angel had found a way to keep her interested in living--not in staying alive, of course but in the form of enjoying her freedom. Like the male at her side, she also loathed battle. Yet it was her forte.

She did not turn to look at him, but she could feel the power of his aura, and nodded her head. "Indeed. They are such fragile beings, humans." That was their charm. For all the world, she looked as one of them; the only signs of her race were her unnatural beauty and her wings--which were hidden. An exceptionally beautiful human female was the image she presented, though it would be clear she was more.

"They are," he agreed. "Though I'm not quite sure he's what you'd call human." He gave his companion a quizzical glance. Come to think of it, she didn't quite seem like a human, either. It wasn't something he could see at a glance, but she didn't smell edible, and he trusted his senses. It wasn't polite to pry into exactly what she was, though.
