Commencement

Like young school-going children we
Wore matching blue gowns and colored sashes that
Did not quite reach our feet. Overhead,
Colorful balloons hung displayed as in a toy shop window
Blue, pink, green, yellow, purple -
Out of reach. We sat in rows arranged:
Chan, Lim, Soonderaj, Tay, Zhang; Economics,

Tonight's the second night I am spending in school in a row. The last time I did this was for Model ASEAN and that was because I cared for Model ASEAN. This time around, I am here cleaning up after somebody else's mess. So, it is really nice, really really nice, when I opened up my box of 9pc nuggets to find 10.

I remember when I was young, I got $70 one birthday. That was way grand. Somehow, between my grandma and my aunt they gave me seven red notes, and I was RICH. That was in those days when I only got a dollar a day for school, and getting $70 was better than great. It paid for my sweets for a very long time ( Read more... )
