To be fair, the hat did say "you could do very well in Slytherin," or something to that effect.

it did, but it was after he was all NOT SLYTHERIN NOT SLYTHERIN from the moment the hat touched his head.
imo, the hat was just like "yknow, there are benefits too... it's not alllll bad..." but it never actually expressed WANTING to put him in slytherin.

Haha so true! I know a lot of people love the later books, but the angsty caps lock Harry was a bit much for me.
