coffee by candle light . . .

Apr 28, 2015 13:42

A big rain came this morning. The air has been cleaned, everything has been given a huge drink of water and the temperatures have dropped into the 60s! Our power went out this morning for about two hours. It was dark in the house so Pete and I sat outside to have our coffee and enjoy the rain on the roof and all around us. The no see 'ems were ( Read more... )

You would love it there at the Celery Fields, with the "birds galore." Many migrants come through, especially at this time of year, so I see many for the first time. When you come down this way, you should definitely plan on visiting it.

What a charming owl mug! Perfect for candlelight.

And that is proper rain. That's what the British weather should be doing, but it is shirking its duties at the moment.

I like that, "proper" rain. It down-poured for a little while then turned into a nice (proper) soaking rain. With the exception of about a week ago, we've been too dry for months. Our spring is normally dry though, so these rains are always very welcome. And, gives me a break from watering the plants. :))

I look forward to your photos from Celery Fields.
It's nice that you met someone who was purchasing one of your pieces. It will be interesting for you to show him your studio and show him your process.

My goodness, I just converted 60F to Celsius and it's only 15C - colder than here! How beautiful with just the candle on - was the power out? Those no see 'ems are naughty little things, aren't they? They go right through my mosquito zapper.

That is bad that that author doesn't pay you. I know how much grief those covers have given you over the years. They turn out so well, too. He doesn't appreciate you. I'm glad you now have that weight off your back.

That's wonderful that you were there when your customer bought that wire tree and that he was interested in how you made it. I love that beautiful soft lilting Irish accent, too.

We are still continuing to have nice cool weather in the mornings and evenings. I try and be out in it as much as possible because I know that the heat and humidity of summer will soon be here. The no see'ems love me! They rarely ever bother Pete, but I'm always getting bit.

The author still owed me $100, but I told him in my last correspondence, after he'd sent me the unsigned check, to forget about it, that he probably needed it more than I did. I am just so glad it is over!

I got to hear quite a bit of that Irish accent. He is a pleasant man, but WOW, what a talker. Two and a half hours of him going on and on, mostly stuff about his life. I was mentally exhausted by the time he left.

I usually love it when the electric goes off - cause I believe it won't be off that long anyway. And especially in summer it's no hardship. Glad to hear you and Pete made the most of it.

I always enjoy hearing people talking with accents. That will be a fun visit.
