This wonderful old clay vessel is about two feet across. The kiln must have been huge! It is so heavy I can barely lift it when it is empty. I “inherited” it from dear Betty after she passed away. It was in much better shape when I first got it, but time is slowly taking it back ( Read more... )

I love the texture and 'green stuff' on the outside of this pot.

i'm amazed at how you reclaim old or thrown out stuff and make it a thing of beauty :)

And RIP Betty. Yes, she was talented. Remembering the good times is the best way to remember her...and with her work!

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to old and/or broken things. For some reason they are much more interesting to me than something new. It might be the history they hold . . .

The succulents which you place in there are pretty. I'm glad you have the clay vessel as a memory of your friend and her work. And you mention it in your back yard redo. How ironic! This afternoon I received a call from my contractor's daughter. Her dad "Buck" had died this morning :( His greatest work was a privacy barrier of vinyl and reinforced steel 3 years ago which he designed. I see it every time I go out back. My entire back yard redo is centered around his work. You and I both have something special from our friends now departed ( ... )
