catch up news and eagle fledglings at play . . .

Apr 19, 2012 11:55

My life and daily routine this last week or so has been full. With all the doctor’s appointments and tests (btw, the aorta and carotid scan showed that my arteries are fine-no blockages, blood running and pumping fine, and only a small amount of plaque that comes normally with my age. So, I back off on my previous rant. I might have just been ( Read more... )

I love spoonbills. I did get some very comical shots of them, too, that I'll post later.

The orchids arrived today all in good shape. Thank you again so much, Joan. I will take a picture of them now and then repot and trim them all, see how they do, and then take a picture when they bloom.

I'm glad to hear you had a good report from the doctor. And I hear you so much on the knee problems. I take glucosamine and chondriotin to and when I forget for a few days it's obvious. I can't take pills though because they won't go down my little throat and those are huge. I buy the joint juice powders or drink for drinking. Though I like the powders better (you mix them in little 8 ounce bottles of water) they may have discontinued them. Luckily I found some on ebay and Chris stocked up on them for me. They should last me four months. They were $20 for all four boxes and he has more. I want to get the rest because if they don't make it any more then yes I'd like some to last a long time. I know the feeling about fearing to be on it for life ( ... )

I didn't know you took glucosamine and chondriotin. How long have you been taking it and do you think it is helping you? I thought I saw at the store where I bought mine that they had a liquid or powder form. I will try and remember to check on that next time I go. The stuff isn't cheap, and I'm going to start watching for the BOGOF offers. They are big pills, but I've never had any problem swallowing pills.

I figured you would like those eagle pix. Those are the same fledgling eagles I sent you pictures of in an e mail a couple weeks ago. I guess I didn't get a chance yet to post them here, so I guess I do that one backwards. They were absolutely amazing and I was so thrilled to get shots like that!

Oh, I bet the bluebirds will be back to nest again in your birdhouse. Maybe next year one of the babies will be building a nest there. How soon after they fledge so they mate?

I love the last pic because you can really see the "boots" on the bottom chick. I think they need to be a year old to breed.

That spoonbill will make a great print!

Those eagles are so neat! Crazy play!

That spoonbill was just one I did. There are several more in different postures and with water splashing all around that I think will make wonderful prints.

You cannot imagine how excited I was about those eagle pictures! I also have pictures of them before they fledged and they seemed so close to each other in the nest.

Beautiful shots of the eagles. They seem to be at play.

And a lovely one of the spoonbill!

Forgot to comment on your weather. It sounds just like the 4 month drought we had just before the Big Wet, which has basically lasted for two years! Well, 18 mths, anyway. We'll probably be in drought again soon. I predict that you will have more rain than you want this summer!

Thanks for the bird comments. I am still so excited and thrilled at those eagle shots. Yes, I think they were playing, tumbling and somersaulting around like kids do. :))

Well, it looks like my complaining got someone's attention. It rained most of yesterday and through the night. Some damage in the yard, the pool overflowed. I just went out and took some pictures that I'll post later. But I am thankful. I'd rather have scant rain than too much.

Well, you didn't need that much rain! Or that hard!
