Well, Debra and I went to see two eagle nests out east today. We saw lots of action--adults and babies .....
I am very tired, but just started going through my pictures and this is my favorite so far.

A friend invited me to go to Cape Coral to see the Burrowing Owls again. It's probably been a year since I've been down there and saw them for the first time. Anyway, I'm putting on lots of sunscreen and wearing my big brimmed hat, so hopefully I'll be safe from the sun ( Read more... )

I put together this little composite of one of the eagles at Caruso Road singing his song. I believe it is the male doing the singing. The female had just flown into the nest with a fish as he watched happily on a nearby branch. If you have never heard an eagle sing, it is a beautiful sound, like a songbird. I’m getting ready to head out soon. Rob is picking me up at 6 a.m. It’s been a long time since I’ve been up this early to go birding. We are hoping to catch the sunrise and first light at the rookery -it takes about 100 minutes to get there. My life and daily routine this last week or so has been full. With all the doctor’s appointments and tests (btw, the aorta and carotid scan showed that my arteries are fine-no blockages, blood running and pumping fine, and only a small amount of plaque that comes normally with my age.
