brand new Monarch . . .

I hadn’t been down to the pond in a few days, but ever since I found that Monarch chrysalis, the first thing I always do when I get there is to check on it. Yesterday it was empty . . .

Did you bring the chrysalis home? It would make a nice souvenir to remember all the time you spent watching over the sleeping butterfly.

No, I never thought to bring it home. Darn, why didn't I do that. I'm still kicking myself for not bringing home that Honeycomb Cowfish.

I have been there at least a dozen times since I first saw them and can't find it or see anymore of them. I really look hard for just one of them and I don't give up hope.

Or are you talking about the chrysalis?

Glad it came out just fine. I didn't see any damage in the pics. One looks old like the scales have fallen off but that's normal butterfly ware and tear.

I thought it looked like an old ragged one, too, but since it was the only one around and the chrysalis was empty, I just assumed it was a new one.

That's awesome that the chrysalis has 'hatched' out. I wonder of the butterfly flying around was that one? You can never be sure, I guess. That butterfly looks fine to me, too, just a bit worn around the edges :)
