The new feeders I ordered arrived yesterday. We had it all planned out where and how we would hang them. Pete had already bought the cable and everything we would need, so we assembled all our tools on the table outside and went to work. I haven’t seen a Monarch in a while, so don’t know if this is a leftover from summer or one migrating through. In the garden we still have a few lantanas restarting or just hanging on and I guess it was enough to attract this beauty.

I hadn’t been down to the pond in a few days, but ever since I found that Monarch chrysalis, the first thing I always do when I get there is to check on it. Yesterday it was empty . . .

Over the last few weeks the number of Monarch caterpillars down at the park have been growing by leaps and bounds! I started out seeing only a few when ML was here, but yesterday I stopped counting at 50, and there were SO many more! And all different sizes . . . from almost as big as my little finger down to thread size.
