Converse knitted slippers

I found this pattern on Pinterest and it made me nostalgic for my high school sneakers. I started these before the weekend and they are coming along nicely. I don't often pick up stitches along the edge of my knitting, let alone knit  a few rows over too, so this is a new technique for me. I have so many questions about this project. Hoping you can help.

I can not knit in the round or using double pointed needles due to previous hand/wrist/arm surgery. I can only knit with straight needles.

Is this project straight needle friendly?

If so what level of knitting knowledge is required?

And where can I get the pattern?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Me and several other people rated this as easy, and an easy to follow pattern.

So if you know the basics, this would probably add some skills like picking up stitches.

There was also some crocheting, but just a small part. I've been taught before and really rusty, so I just picked it up by watching YouTube.
