This was an incredibly fun episode, and I even have an explanation for the 'fixing things with the sonic' thing! Idea: Amy can use the Sonic to an extent, yes, but she is not the Doctor. I think she was only able to break the authorization thingys, not disable them. Therefore, unable to fix!

SO MUCH FUN to get to watch this with you!!

.....and they just left Hitler in the cupboard. WIN.

I guess my only big beef with this ep is that it was SO not a children's show. There was too much in your face sexiness. That frustrates me. If you're going to write it as an adult show, that takes away something that Dr Who's been for a very long time.

ON the the other hand, after watching it, my initial reaction was ??????!!!!! and then I started thinking about how SM brought all the elements together and maybe we have some hope for Who after all...

Yeah, that's true, it was a bit adult. But I was really impressed at how everything came together. So far! ;-)

well, you've actually made me want to watch this. I have so disliked Amy that I basically stopped watching after season 5 finale, because I realized Amy was actually starting to make me dislike the Doctor (kinda like when a friend is dating someone you can't stand and you can't understand what they see in her), as well as Rory, who i otherwise love despite his mysterious (to me) obsession w/Amy. but i've been dvr'ing every ep. since and reading spoilers. Because, well, Who fans live in hope I suppose. But from things I've been hearing it does seem perhaps Amy has come into her own a bit or at least they've fleshed out her character. You write character so well that I trust your judgment on this, so I'll give it a go. Allons-y!

Amy was much better this past episode than she usually is. I'm with you, I've hated her a lot for a long time, so yeah, I think she's gotten a bit better.

Agree, on all counts. I feel like Amy has genuinely loved Rory all this season, and every episode feels more and more real. And when Eleven is dying and shows up in a tux with a cane!!!! Ahh!!!!! So rad. I just. It's like... Fred Astaire or some nonsense. In my head. Love it.

The only thing I didn't like was... how easily Amy and Rory were able to leave River behind at the end. If that was my kid, and someone had messed with her brain, even if she was an adult and there was nothing I could do, I feel like I'd still want to stay. Some maternal instinct is being short-changed here.

But I'm not actually a mom, so I guess I don't know.

Amy has felt like she loves Rory, which is a huge improvement. And hahaha! Fred Astaire, totally!

I think that Amy and Rory have a hard time seeing River as their kid, because they knew her before, for years, as River, not their kid at all. I think intellectually they're trying to grasp she's their kid, but, emotionally, she's still the annoying chick that's overly familiar with the Doctor, and their kid is the baby Amy got to hold for, like, five minutes. I think.

Everything you said is exactly what I loved about this episode. Especially Rory. Rory kicked so much ass in this. And I agree, this episode definitely helped me like Amy a little bit better. Their backstory was adorable.

Reading your reactions makes watching new episodes even better.

Rory ROCKS in this. He's just so awesome. And he comes into his own, so that it seems more like he and Amy are equals.

I'm glad you enjoy the reactions!
