Glad you had fun with the meetup. That musical sounds intriguing. You'll have to let me know how it goes.

I went to one of the Frankenstein screenings and it was amazing. I saw the version with Cumberbatch as the creature. I desperately want to see the other one, but so far the only encore screenings anywhere near me will be in January when I might still be back home for Christmas / New Year's and the only screening anywhere near my folks is in November when I definitely won't be there. There are only a few screenings announced for all of the US so far and they add a few every so often so I'm still hoping someone will have one when I'm actually in that area.

I've never heard of Rivers of London so I looked it up. Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I think the Frankenstein version they'll show here is the one with Cumberbatch as the creature, too. I'd love to see both version - but then, I'm happy enough I actually get to see one! :-D Good luck for you, though. I hope they'll add another screening you'll be able to go to. I think they're still updating new venues - ours was only confirmed last week as well. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! :-)

Let me know what you think of Rivers of London then! (I think it might have a different title in the US?) I think you'll enjoy it. :-)

I emphatically recommend the other books in the Rivers of London series, too :) (Moon Over Soho, Whispers Under Ground, and, just out in the UK now, Broken Homes). I would definitely suggest reading them in English over translation, though, if text with a lot of British slang would work for you (I've seen some reviews from Americans complaining they couldn't understand the book, but I had no problem infering things from context where I didn't know the specific terms, so I don't think it *has* to be an issue). One of the most charming things about these books is the narrative style, and it seems like the translations with added asides/explanations would interfere with that ( ... )

Ah, thanks for encouraging me to continue this series. :-) And you're right - I should probably try the books in English if you say that the narration is actually their biggest strength. No matter how good the translation is, that's always hard to get right. I usually have no problems with English books at all, so I don't think British slang would be one. I guess I'll just order the next book in English then. Thanks for your thoughts! :-)

I'd love to see "Frankenstein". A friend saw it the last time they showed it, it was very short notice otherwise I might have made it, too.

But where do you see which venues in germany show it? When I'm on the NT site it doesn't show venues in Germany at all. *grumbles* I've found a fansite but that doesn't list any showings in your hometown. And of course the ones listed are too far away from me, as usual. *sigh*

Great to hear that you had a wonderful meet up! I'd love to be on one, too, but I guess I'd need to join facebook or something to actually get up to date with this.

I've just seen that they're having a triple feature of the Cornetto Trilogy in a cinema close to me - but when they do I'll be on holiday in England. Dammit! Of course this would happen...
Perhaps I'll be extremely lucky and their still showing it in england.

I found this page which lists quite a lot of screenings in Germany: http://sherlock-de.com/2013/08/21/frankenstein-in-deutschland/

IF I'm not mistaken, there is a screening near you. If not, I think it might be worth asking either local cinemas or NT directly. I think we got our screening only after some people were very insistent... ;-) I hope you'll be able to go, too!

Oh, and I think holiday in England tops Cornetto Trilogy, don't you? :-) I'm sure you'll be able to see it one way or another. Where in England are you going?

Yeah, the meet up was coordinated over facebook. They did use tumblr as well, though. Somehow I think livejournal isn't as popular anymore...

Ohhh thank your for that site! And yes, there's a cinema nearby, yay! I'll ask around, I'm sure one or two friends will accompany me. That cinema is one that I normally don't go to because it's more difficult to reach for me than another cinema in the same town, but I will go out of my way to watch this. *g*

Well... yeah. *g* I'll send you a card! :) We're hiring a car and have to main spots to stay - Wells (where they shot "Hot Fuzz") and Exeter. We'll visit Bath and Salisbury, also Dartmoor of course. :)

Livejournal has lost its appeal a bit, I think, but I will stay I've been around for so long and I think that tumblr just isn't very useful for any kind of discussion.
