Here's a NASA Earth Observatory image of some of the fires burning in Texas on April 15, with smoke plumes heading southeast.    On Thursday, the sky had been clear blue...with the change in wind direction overnight, the blue turned increasingly gray with smoke during the afternoon.  It was a very dry, strong wind, and the smoke and ash made

That's just terrible all the way around. I can't imagine how many people with respiratory conditions are going to suffer from all of the smoke and dust particles.

Today's satellite photo shows the smoke plumes blowing north, not southeast--our hot south wind has taken over. But I see the fire in/near the Davis Mountains hasn't been controlled. Nor have the big fires in the western Edwards Plateau or the Possum Kingdom fire (doesn't show on these photos, but huge.) Personally I think every climate-change-denying Republican politician in Texas should be forced to go out and fight these fires...but they're too happy redistricting the state to make every district somehow 50+ percent Republican from their air-conditioned offices in Austin.
