Yeah, we had Weather.  Including, very briefly, a tornado warning right on top of us.  The twister (if indeed it touched down) did so between us and Jarrell, off to the east, and I hope it didn't cause anyone a problem.   We got an inch and a half of rain (yay!)  in hard, heavy, windblown buckets and barrels (not quite so yay!).   No trees or ( Read more... )

Every spring and fall, I get a series of weather-related sinus migraines.  They vary with the year, least when strong fronts come in and blow through, and most when weaker fronts stall to one side or the other of us, or creep over us slowly and then move backwards over us again.  I get intense one-sided throbbing pain, sometimes with visual auras ( Read more... )

Here's a NASA Earth Observatory image of some of the fires burning in Texas on April 15, with smoke plumes heading southeast.    On Thursday, the sky had been clear blue...with the change in wind direction overnight, the blue turned increasingly gray with smoke during the afternoon.  It was a very dry, strong wind, and the smoke and ash made ( Read more... )

The forecast was a winter storm warning for our part of our county, 6 am to midnight, but only a winter advisory 50 miles south where our son goes to community college.    So we left for the bus stop 20 miles away at 5:45, and the road was dry...but in about 8-10 miles we started picking up first rain, then freezing rain and sleet.  Dropped him off ( Read more... )
