Finally finished work on the copyedited manuscript just before six this evening, and grabbed the camera and headed out.  All week I've been stuck indoors with this--it had to be ready to mail by tomorrow at the latest.  I had hoped for noon today, but there were just enough difficulties that I could not get it done by then.

This was smaller than some I've seen...maybe it was a young one that didn't know it should immediately dive *under* that leaf!

I was able to get surprisingly close--I did have the zoom cranked out all the way, though. They're so SHINY.

What a great skink shot! Yours is much clearer, but I finally got my first skink picture this week too. Are they slower at this time of year or are we faster?

When you say "gentian" I think of gentian violet and sore throats. I used to hate having my throat painted.

Always something new to learn...if you forget to post one comment, and go up to a previous comment to answer it, your first comment hops up *there*. DUH.

So that's where you need to look.

About gentians...I don't remember having my throat painted, so my association with "gentian" is purely about the family of flowers that includes the Texas Bluebell (Eustoma grandiflora), the Meadow Pink (Sabatia campestris), and the several Centaurys. Lovely flowers all.

On a completely different topic, I walked in to Ikea today and what did I find? Many many shelves lined with the Swedish translation of The Deed of Paksennarion :P It was a little strange. The worst thing was, I couldn't buy them ;(

That is seriously weird...and funny (yes, I burst out laughing...both at the thought of Ikea buying them to use in stores (why THAT one???) and the thought of you finding them and staring wistfully...(um...do you read Swedish???)
