Nobody Talks About the Dangers of Fanfiction

Last night I started working on my prompt for a "The Losers" fic fest and it was still flowing freely this morning. I wrote a little while I was eating my breakfast. I wrote some more on the bus on the way to work. Then, yes, even though I know it’s wrong, I continued writing AT work.

That's why I'm always so paranoid about writing on the computer around others. I'm afraid someone will look over my shoulder and be like "I don't remember THAT happening!". So I was ridiculously happy to get a laptop so I can do my writing in private. Or if I'm working on a story by hand, then I write in cursive. Little trick I started back in high school when I'd write fanfics during class.

I have learned that I have to write while I can, while I can. Sometimes I'll be deep in a story, go to work, and then come home and find it's just gone. What works best for me is to peck away at it every chance I get.

I hardly ever write longhand anymore. I keep a little notebook in my purse and another next to the bed, but those are just to jot down notes on until I can get to my computer. My netbook was definitely more of a neccesity than a luxury. I love that damn thing.

I generally don't care if strangers feel the need to look over my shoulder, but at work is a different matter. That is a meeting I don't need to have.
