Back from Orlando!  The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was made of awesome.  Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey might just be my favorite ride ever.  (I do still hold a soft spot for the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, and the Haunted Mansion regardless of where it is.)  It was an incredible mix of ride and simulation, and it was easy to ( Read more... )

Yes. I resisted, really I did, but when it comes down to it, I definitely feel more of an affinity for Slytherin than any other house. I was bummed at the end of the books when NONE of the Slytherin fought with the good guys. In fact, I've pondered writing something about a Slytherin OMC who is actually a good person.

Plus, green is totally my color.

Green and silver are an amazingly pretty combination. I'd never have thought of it if not for the HP books but I love it.

The seventh book disappointed me so much because JKR took away so much of the depth, complexity, and ambiguity that really characterizes Slytherin. You should definitely write about one! Usually I'm not fond of OCs, but HP is kind of dying for a good Slytherin one. Or, well, there's always Albus Severus Potter, or ASP, because it's quite tempting to sort him into Slytherin. He has the initials for it anyway XD.

I generally don't like OCs either, but I've always wanted to write a story set before Harry Potter. I've been vaguely pondering a sort of epic story that starts at the downfall of Voldemort and continues through to some point in the Harry Potter timeline, but completely separate. I have this character in my head, the abandoned son of a Death Eater who isn't a bad guy, even if he moves in dark circles.

I just don't know if I'm motivated enough to devote myself to any sort of epic-ness just now.

Happy to hear you had a great time! Everyone who returns seems to have nothing but rave reviews. I can't wait to see it someday. :)

I really want to go back! Just to sit in the Hog's Head with a drink and a friend, snacking on Everyflavor Beans and listening to the soft grunting of the boar's head mixed with the Harry Potter theme music.

It really was spectacular. The whole park was, despite not raving about it here.
