I cannot imagine what it would be like to be that cold. Even though I grew up in Michigan, and we had plenty of freezing temperatures, even subzero temps... but never -40!

And here I thought it was chilly here this morning, with 47 F. You're 85 degrees colder! damn.

Most of my life, I never thought I'd see -40 either! I can't believe I'm going to be looking at palm trees by the end of the week...

I was outside in -24C + windchill last weekend, even in my brand new heavy jacket I could feel the cold seeping in and you really feel it on the face. Can't imagine any colder than that. And if you think about it, there are very few ways to experience that level of cold without going to the north.

It's probably true. Or the south - a researcher at the college just came back from Antarctica. :p

Omg. Never mind the 9th level of hell--that sounds like the 40th level of hell. I always say I can handle the cold better than the heat, but dammit, there's a limit! XD

As I write this, it's -44 (straight up - no windchill counted) in Watson Lake, about 4 hours east of here.

Blows my mind!

we're getting our first spell of consistently -30ish weather this week, and i am not-so-secretly happy (and relieved).

Awesome. But why relieved?

the weather has been consistently alarming here for the last few years. it shouldn't, for example, be +8 in winnipeg in january, let alone for days consecutively.
