The Twitter.

I've hated Twitter ever since I first heard about it. For at least a couple of reasons. Probably more if I thought longer about it.

-“Who really cares what I am doing, every hour of the day?” wondered Alex Beam, a Boston Globe columnist, in an essay about Twitter last month. “Even I don’t care.”-I don't really need another gee-dee Internet Thing ( Read more... )

how about you just talk to them?

THANK YOU!

It's amazing how many people have told me that they simply "don't have time" to talk to their friends and "thank god for facebook". I find that absolutely *DISGUSTING* beyond words. If you don't have time to call me up and speak to me once in awhile, you're simply not good enough to be my friend.
And it's funny how these people claim "Not to have time" for their friends, yet they have to "be bored" or watch some TV show or whatever. :P
Also, what did people do five years ago, when FB didn'T exist?

We lost touch with people we don't have the energy or time to call often enough to stay in touch, but still wonder about and are concerned about. Calling someone once a month feels so contrived, resulting in long explanations to explain context. Being able to sort of see a window into their lives, so you don't lose whole contact, is nice. I don't want to talk to everyone I knew in high school and be all chummy, but I am curious what that super bright guy who was going to run for president is up too, and I find it amusing to watch my former evangelical friends turn atheist, that sort of thing. There's a lot of people I don't find interesting enough to put on my high priority must call list (only so many hours in a day, yk?) but who I still want to talk to. It's especially excellent for far away family I find. I want to see my cousin's new baby. I cannot imagine for the life of me what we'd talk about if we had to do more than wall-to-wall, yk?

Oh I *totally* understand about old high school friends and all that; don't get me wrong, I completely understand how you don't need to talk to all your friends all of the time. ;)
I'm talking about people who are MUCH closer to each other. The friends in question who I was referring to in my comment...well I'm not gonna mention any names (they wouldn't be reading this so it doesn't matter anyway, but STILL), but these were close friends talking about supposedly other close friends, ya know? It was just really bitchy of them, I thought.

I have never used it and never plan to.

My LJ friends who use it? I skip those entries. It bores me SO much!

I have FB mostly to play Scabulous and now Scrabble Beta. LJ serves as my journal and pimps my Flickr account. I have had no desire to get Twitter.
