Can you even watch baseball anymore? The man of this house seriously cannot even look at a baseball (as in the object) without tears welling up. Youppi at habs games is Very Controversial round these parts as well. Last summer Kay got him to go to the batting cages with her, but it still really stings.

He likes baseball almost as much as I like sex :-P

I can still watch baseball. Actually, when the Expos left, I made a promise to myself that I would still get to at least one baseball game a year in another city. To my mind, Toronto has two things over Montreal: wellesleywino and a professional baseball team that plays at the highest level, and anytime I think about moving, Toronto always comes to mind first for those two things.

I'm actually glad Youppi's with the Habs now. It's much better than the other options, which were probably (a) Youppi dies or; (b) Youppi as the mascot for Jean Coutu or Provigo or some other Quebec-only brand name.

His mom had to put the pictures of 18 month old Mister sitting on Youppi's lap in another room so they weren't as prominent anymore.

LOL @ Toronto... He always says "the only thing good about that fucking shit city is they have a baseball team."

Aw, I bet that's an adorable shot. I wish I had a picture of myself with Youppi from my first game here when I was four...

This radio show that Tony Kornheiser hosts that I've been listening to lately is unfortunately based in D.C. and is on the station with the rights to the Nationals. I hate hearing those fucking ads.

1. When I arrived in Canada for 6th grade, after a week or so I was taken aside by my main teacher and asked not to raised my hand in class anymore when I knew the answer because of my previous european education I had an unfair advantage over the other kids and some had complained about being intimidated because i knew more than them. Likewise, during swimclass I got to play by myself in the deep end because the swimming lanes were taken by my colleagues that were competing between them. Apparently being a good swimmer because having lived always by the ocean was also a good reason for the teacher to send me alone to the other bassin. So, really, being set aside for being better is , in my experience, standard MO in Quebec.

3. Because when Iran captures US/UK people they are innocent hostages, but when the US/UK capture Iran people they are prisoners at best, enemy combatants usually.

My point exactly! I'm just kind of astounded that this story has gotten as little play as it has...

It is getting some coverage around here, but with presidential elections less than 3 weeks away the rest of the world will have to wait a bit to be talked about...
