As the thread-starter, I just wanted to reconfirm that no, I don't think that anyone can give consent while incapacitated.
While I think that reframing the question with a generic man as the subject would have been a *great* idea, I don't actually think that it's right in a discussion with semistrangers to joke about any of the participants in the discussion being raped.
I wouldn't make you the subject of a rape joke, and I wouldn't expect you to do it to me.
I do think that I made a mistake in starting the thread. Clearly, many people misunderstood both meaning and intent.
However, it's already created, and the best that I can do now is to respectfully reply to the responses that I get...
I do want to personally apologise to you for any offense that I gave. Discussion was my goal, not offense.
but really it's more than a joke, it's a serious re-framing of the scenario in order to personalize it, in hopes that perhaps you would have a bit more insight if not understanding.
Well my friend already addressed one part. It's more than a joke. But aside from that, how is it that you can recognize that as rape when you are the subject yet when a woman is the subject you have questions about it? And in his scenario you only had sex with ONE person. In your scenario you had this woman being raped multiple times.
Something in his reframing worked because suddenly you recognize the situation is in fact rape. Now ain't that something?
