I was listening to this song called Eve (remix) by Spacek. It has this part that goes "I want you. I need you. I want you. I need you." And for some reason that part reminds me of this guy. I can't quite think of why aside from him putting me on to the song. But why only that part of the song ( Read more... )

reminisce

a) i am so *dead* at risque!

b) i had tender kisses on my 8th grade "awesome radio mixtape #2" somewhere in between arrested development "revolution" and the honeys "yeah yeah yeah."

Leave Risky alone!! lol

And I'm trynna think if I know the Honey's song. 'Cause i'm thinkin of a "Yeah Yeah Yeah" song, but I think the group was called Voices. It went 'He makes me say "yeah yeah yeah" "yeah yeah yeah" The boy makes me say "yeah yeah yeah" "yeah yeah yeah."' Is that it?

Songs tend to remind me of time periods rather than people.

"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and "Doo Wop" remind me of the the year my grandfather passed away. Miseducation dropped like 2 weeks before he passed away and I remember listening to those tracks over and over on the trip down to the funeral.

In high school, I was infamously known as "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" after the Offspring video of the same name.

"Slippin'" by DMX - it sounds corney, but a friend of mine and I had been blunted for weeks, and the song made both of us cry, lol.

"Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nothin To F Wit"---blew up in my lil low-income suburban neighborhood...it was rediculous watching groups of heads on their front door chanting it in unison, lol.

But speaking of tapes, Harriet (my cousin for the people who don't know) used to have this tape that we played OUTTTTT. It was summer, like before 8th grade or something (1995?), and I used to go to her house everyday and we'd play that tape and sing along over and over again. To be honest with you, I really don't know what else we did.

We played that tape out so much that I STILL remember the order the songs were and if I hear that song anywhere, I'd expect the next song to be the next song on that tape. lol

Some of the songs:
Total- "Can't You See"
Queen Latifah- "Weekend Love" (she actually sang that song)
Mary J and Lil Kim "I Can Love You"
For Real "If I Was a Rich Girl"

I'm like Stephon, time periods and places rather than people. Much of the music that dropped in the late 90s reminds me of moments in high school, 'cause my friends and I would walk down the halls to class rapping the words as loud as possible (the teachers hated it, lol). Especially songs from DMX's first album... and certain Jay-Z songs.
