Call him Mr. Vain

I was listening to this song called Eve (remix) by Spacek. It has this part that goes "I want you. I need you. I want you. I need you." And for some reason that part reminds me of this guy. I can't quite think of why aside from him putting me on to the song. But why only that part of the song?

Anyhoo, it got me thinking about songs that remind me of folks.

Mr. Vain by Culture Beat reminds me of my ex-boyfriend from junior high and high, Risqué (yes, that's his real name). 'Cause one summer he KEPT singing that damn song non-stop. "I know what I want and I want it now! I want you 'cause I'm Mr. Vain!!" OMG! (I haven't seen him in a minute. I should call him.)

Both Common's Dooinit and Carl Thomas' Hey Now will forever remind me of Ron (Trea). Yeeeep.

Raekwon's Incarcerated Scarfaces (among other songs) instantly make me think of Q 'cause when she wanted to be a hype woman, that's the song we "rehearsed" to once. Still one of my funniest memories.

LL Cool J's Milky Cereal reminds me of this kid from elementary school named Marlon. He came in one day singing the song (before I got Mama Said Knock You Out). He made EVERYthing about that song sound sexual. I mean, the song has a lot of innuendo, but he made every single lyric sound like a metaphor for sex. And since I was like 10, that alone made both him and the song stick out in my mind. lol

Off The Wall reminds me of my cousin Boonie 'cause I have this clear memory of her singing it in the car.

Bad reminds me of my cousin Andre who had a habit of re-making the lyrics to songs in a sexual context and singing them to our other cousin Nippy (Boonie's brother).
*to the tune of Bad*
"Your butt is mine...
I'm housin' that.
So give it up...
Or watch your back!"
LOL! It had this combo of freaking me out and making me hysterically laugh at the same time. I feel like he did one for When Dove's Cry too, but I can't think of it. lol

And if anyone you used to make tapes, you can relate to this. Some songs remind me of other songs because I made a tape and one song came after another in the tape. Well, I guess that's more like the ending of a song reminding me of another. Queen Latifah's Fly Girl (or rather the ending) makes me think immediately of Klymaxx' Good Lovin. lol PE's Can't Truss It makes me think of Patti LaBelle's Feels Like Another One which makes me think of Tender Kisses... Man, that was a horrible mix. lol But then it wasn't about mixing. It was more about catching your favorite songs and catching them without the DJ yapping over the beginning of the song.

Any songs make you think of people in your life?
