Perception

I'm becoming more and more aware of how wide the difference is between my self-image and how others view me. I think this is true for a lot of people (at least in America). I know I watch my friends trip over things about themselves that I either 1)didn't notice until they brought it up and/or 2)don't think means that much in regards to their ( Read more... )

Sometimes I think I'm better looking than others do, sometimes less. I think part of me just wants to be contrary. If someone says I'm ugly, I tend to get kinda hurt and defensive; if someone says I'm hot, all the sudden Mr. Humble.

Yeah, I'm consistently floored by what other people see vs. my own self-perception. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad.

Ditto. A lot of the time it's easy to see the good in others as opposed to ourselves.

the doc that did work on my nose this time around...he even said when I first met him that he thought I had a cute nose. I looked at him like he was nuts.

Do you feel your self-image is sharply different from the image others have of you? How so? Do you think you're better or worse looking than you believe others perceive you to be?

What should've been after the bold text was.

Somtimes when people tell me things about myself I wonder if they are seeing what I am.

Even with pics, I'll like them when they are first takened and then a minute later my view has changed.

Over all I think I look alright...not any worse or any better just already.

::Mad cause I had a lot to say in my first comment.::

Heh, that's me too. It's a wonder I still have any pics posted anywhere of me since I usually hate them all after a week or so.

"as I can't take a compliment to save my life."

I can't really either. And it almost feels conceited to be able to do it (which I realize is weird). Like it feels over confident to even acknowledge someone else finding me attractive, which is just too fuckin silly.

I'm trynna really internalize the idea that I may have no clue what I'm talkin about when it comes to how I look. And clearly you have no clue either. lol
