I have to say, I still prefer the new version of the movie with Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford.  That is not an indictment of any one aspect of this film, but more my inability to suspend disbelief at the relationship between Bogart and Hepburn or Bogart's vulnerability during the con, as in I can't see his subtlety in performance where his ( Read more... )

I have always envied Audrey Hepburn her looks and her talent, but I will forever envy her opportunity to perform opposite Gregory Peck and, especially, her chance to kiss him in such an innocent and chaste role.  He will always be the image I hold in my mind for masculinity and gentleness.  It was my research into Abraham Lincoln and Gregory Peck's ( Read more... )

Loved this movie.  Obviously not in tune with my brief study of Greek history, but I found out much later it was based on a graphic novel which was historical fiction, so I'm ok with it.  The lighting was weird.  Maybe because it was filmed for CGI alteration, but it was a bit odd to adjust to.

Ok, so, yes, that was a long break.  I have good reason.  First, I was in Scotland for Christmas and New Year (Hogmanay) and when I returned, all my 'writing' powers were focused on my personal statement for law school.  That was probably the hardest piece of writing I've ever had to do and it was only two pages.  But, it was two pages about me.  ( Read more... )
