[He's in the library, looking for a book that contains recipes that he could actually make given the limited amount of rations and supplies they have. And he's growing progressively more grumpy, as he's finding either books that aren't in English, or books that call for ingredients that he has no chance of getting ( Read more... )

[He frowns and shakes his head]

I can't imagine one that small.

*she beams* We have cellphones, too. You don't have to be at home to make a call. *makes a box with her hands* They come in all kinds of sizes, but one of the smallest I've seen is that size.

[He scratches his chin thoughtfully]

Things certainly have changed. That all sounds like science fiction to me.

Technology is moving really fast. Each time a new model comes out, they get smaller or sleeker, or both. More powerful, and can do a lot of things. *and she's walked a little closer as she talked, unknowingly, keeping her voice low since it's a library*

I'd love to see the advertising for that. The possibilities would be endless!

[He looks really excited learning about all of this]

*she nods, smiling brightly* I think you would love some of the commercials we have. If we can ever get anything from my era that works here, I'll try to show you some.

[He looks thrilled. Nothing excites him more than advertising. Well, almost nothing more.]

I'd love to see some of it. I doubt the Gate will allow that to happen, though.

*doesn't she know it :[*

The Gate drops things here all the time. It's just a matter of it working. *she looks at the books and slides a finger down a spine* And if it has what we need stored on it. *pulls the book from the shelf*

Really? Does it ever drop things that actually belong to us? Or is it simply random?

[He's hopeful that some of his advertising will come through, most likely]

*tilts her head* Yes. It drops our own things sometimes. Most of the time it's random and doesn't really fall on us.

*lip twists towards the wistful* When it does give us personal things, it tends to be cruel.

Things that remind us of home?

Yes. Home or the people we left behind.

[He looks solemn for a moment]

It might be nice to have a photo of my kids, at least. My youngest son probably won't even remember me if I get stuck here.

[[I should do that too >.>]]

*she looks at the cover of the book she pulled; wavers a bit, then slides the book back on the shelf* Let's hope that when we get home, no time has passed by.

*holds up a finger* Now, you find a recipe and stop using me as an excuse to procrastinate.

[[Yes! Let us stop procrastinating together!]]

I'll keep looking.

[He smiles at her]

I look forward to showing you how successful I am.

[[Okay so doing it now!]]
