The Heart's Filthy Lesson

It's February.

I miss the fun, offtopic movie discussions that were always on LJ.

What are some of the greatest romantic films?

This can include disturbing romance as well.

And... Go.

The greatest love story ever told is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Not between the young assholes...between Michelle Khan and Chow Yun Fat!

Wow, there are so many. Lost In Translation, Moonstruck, Veer-Zaara, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Tristan + Isolde, The Graduate, Harole and Maude... Really, I could go on for a long, long time.

jimmy stewart & donna reed in it's a wonderful life destroy me utterly. my absolute favorite cinematic love story OAT, bar none. um... what else... i always liked an officer & a gentleman. also, une liason pronographique is absolutely superb - v. french, v. charming.

as for dark & disturbing stuff, the version of wuthering heights w/ ralph fiennes & juliette binoche is actually pretty great (still haven't seen the 1939 version, tho). i adored catherine breillat's romance for an even darker & disturbinger take on the topic, but no one seems to agree w/ me about how awesome that movie is.
