Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I'm still reading the fifth book, so while I was watching the movie adaptation last night/this morning I noticed how they kept a lot of the original language from the book and put it in the movie.  It pretty much covered everything, but I think it's really interesting that they chose not to include the locket/horcrux in the drawer...I guess maybe ( Read more... )

The fight scenes WERE great! Especially the Dumbledore/Voldemort one.

Oh and... sorry for the salty popcorn! I'm still trying to rehydrate today lol.

I know! The fight scene between them, and with the kids demonstrating their awesome spells against the Death Eaters. Especially that reducto spell from Ginny. Ahhhh, Ginny...

The popcorn was alright...I did drink a lot of water today, though. :)

I think I might see it this weekend. How was the portrayal of Luna?

I thoroughly enjoyed the portrayal of Luna; however, Kelly thought her acting was typical for a first movie. After seeing it again, already I know, I still liked her. Her deliveries were absolutely spot-on. While Kel disagress, Karla also thinks Evanna Lynch was a good choice.

Let me know what you think of her, after you see the movie. I, of course, fell in love with Ginny and Hermione.

Well, I'd say you are right; Kelly is wrong (sorry, Kelly!). As far as I am concerned, Luna played herself in the movie. She's exactly as I imagined her. Luna became my favorite character in the series as soon as she was introduced, so it was especially important to me that the role be cast correctly. I thought the actress was flawless. Needless to say, her scenes are my favorite parts of the movie.

Did Ginny even get any lines? As foretold, the movie was seriously deficient in length. If they were going to cut that much from the film, I almost think it might have been better if they had dispensed with any storytelling pretensions and simply made a "highlights from the book" movie, limiting themselves to doing complete and faithful versions of individual scenes without regard to telling the entire story.
