an lj-friend reminded me once again from a link in his 4 May 2009 post why i discourage people from sending me parcels even with good intentions of surprising me/sharing something with me a part of what they like. *sheepish grin*

what i hate most about it aside from the minimum of Php35.00 that i have to pay is that they want you to open it in front of them. which happened to mine last time thinking there was something "illegal" or something in that bulky pack that was included in the parcel that was sent to me. turns out, it was a butter cream moisturizing lotion included with the chocolates, christmas card and a book on dogs that was sent to me by a well-meaning online friend two christmases ago. i told her that the gesture was appreciated but not necessary since our post office people are pretty fussy with things like this. so far i was lucky enough that it was just that. next time i'd rather prefer a courier company to send/receive me things i want and it better be in big boxes so that no holding up in the post office will ensue ( ... )
