I - Observations

[Ashe's handwriting isn't as neat as one might perhaps expect - but then, working with the Resistance didn't leave much time to keep up with her penmanship.]

So, I've reached Soeldei at last. The city of new beginnings... Perhaps there can be one even for me.

I'm staying in a hostel in Psilos district - Chairetizo, I believe it's called.  The owner ( Read more... )

[ her writing is plain for once; with a distinct casual scrawl as she gets used to writing at all ]

Considering how primitive this place is compared to what most of us are probably used to--it's no wonder they worship the sun. I just don't like how under wraps said worship is conducted.

Pirates, huh? My father used to be a space pirate: a smuggler.

Some would say sky pirates are really little more than glorified tomb robbers who happen to have airships. Of course, I would never say such a thing.

Not in their presence, anyway.

Ah. Well, my family has often intermarried royalty with "riff raff" like that. I can say from experience they're not all bad. In fact, my father's pretty great. My mother.. ugh.

I think any self-respecting pilot no matter their other 'jobs' get attached to their ships. I do, and I was a military pilot.

Oh, I never said I disliked them. A few of them happen to be my closest friends. In fact I'm slightly worried I may have fallen in love with one of them. Even if Balthier's constant acting as if he was the hero of a play is irritating, it's the occupation I object to more than the people.

((OOC: Strikes are scribbled out furiously - in fact she almost ripped the page in her journal.))

Just an image they tend to get. What was that?

Huh. The stupidly brave are no strangers to me, either.

Because it's "illegal" or because it's dangerous?

Nothing. My pen slipped and there was no easy way to correct it.

Oh, it's worse than that, trust me. He refers to himself as the "leading man."

Mostly because they have a depressing tendency to target important historical relics.

Are you sure?

Sounds a bit annoying.

And sell them to ..who? Gangster? private collectors? Or keep them?

Yes. [Explaining what happened there would lead to revealing more than she really wants to in this place.]

Mostly to anyone who will buy.

Allright. [ she feels otherwise, a weird vibe through the Force, but says nothing more ]

I see. Tombs and temples on various planets in the galaxy tend to have nasty traps. And by traps, I mean..

It's rather like that in Ivalice, too. I had the misfortune to accompany them several times; that particular beast rather resembles the Reavers in Giruvegan, actually...

That was a Terentatek. They feed off the blood of Force-sensitives, or so it's said.

Then our worlds can't be too different, Miss.

Reavers feed off any part of anyone. What exactly are Force-sensitives?

Perhaps not.

Sentients like me. I think the best term to describe us would be warrior monks. Of a sort. Who have psychic powers.

I'm Jaina, by the way.

I... see. I'll admit, the first idea that came to mind was something like the viera, who can sense the Mist.

Ashe. A pleasure to meet you, Jaina.

A.. what? Force sensitives are sensitive to the Force. We have inborn psychic abilities. But we can sense emotions and thoughts through it. If we are trained properly, anyway. Only a very few had the raw natural talent to master skills alone.

Likewise, Ashe.
