I love this episode. I found Elton to be a really relatable character and I love all the little things we get to know about him right from the start. Just the other day, my co-worker was playing his music through open speakers and I wasn't even annoyed because it was ELO and I thought, "Aww, I like Elton

This episode gets a LOT of hate from the fandom, and I'm not sure why. Bandwagon effect, perhaps? Anyway, yes, the monster is rubbish, but Doctor Who has had equally bad or worse (just take a look at the classic series -- Kandyman, anyone?) and survived. (And hey, it was designed by a kid for a Blue Peter competition, so give them a break

I too actually quite enjoyed this episode--I lived getting this outside pov on the Doctor and Rose, and getting a glimpse of Jackie's daily life (lmao @ Rose having a Word with him for upsetting her mum!), and LINDA was just so presh...and also so true. It reminds me of friends that I have made over the years in random that I hang out with without even necessarily talking about that fandom anymore.
The only things I see worth disliking about the epp is missing Ten and Rose time, and the disgusting pavement sex implication at the end...:/
This episode was a lot of fun. Elton was a very typical clueless character and the LINDA group was great. I loved how they expanded from a Doctor fan group to a bunch of people coping with their various problems in a group way. Fun seeing the Doctor through other peoples lives. Makes me wonder what something like this with characters from the past would be like. Like the Brigadier for example being a character that has encounter the Doctor on several occasions.
