Skellig was a book I read in Year 8, and I found it slightly creepy. I didn't watch the movie, but I did catch the first few scenes of it and I read the summary on wikipedia. xD I think it differered quite a bit from the book, but the book was meant to hide the fact (because it just doesn't meantion it) that though Skellig was dirty, dishevelled and just ick at the start, he's actually quite beautiful and angelic. Or something like that.
Anyways, I really want to read a good fantasy book. Suggestions? :D
Have you read T.A. Barron's Merlin Series? I really enjoyed it. I need to finish up his sequel series to it. But I definitely recommend it. It starts with The Lost Years of Merlin.
If you've read those, let's see there's always the Song of hte Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. I don't have all my fantasy books in front of me and sadly I've forgotten a few as I read them all as library books and didn't buy them. But I can have more suggestions if you're familiar with these.
No, I haven't read the Merlin series! I'll look in to that! Thanks. :D
Hehe, yeah, I've read all of Tamora Pierce's stuff I could get my hands on. I can't wait for the new Beka Cooper book! :DDD But any suggestions are much appreciated and welcome. ^^
I read Skellig some years ago, I think, and I've been wanting to see the movie. Not because I thought much of the book, I can't actually remember that much, but I believe Tim Roth is in it. And I'll watch pretty much anything he does ^^ <3 Also, John Simm, even if it's just a minor part. :D
Sorry for being really bad at commenting lately :/ I did hear about you meeting Nicola, and I'm really quite happy for you that you got to do that. :D I know how happy I'd be if I met any of my greatest rolemodels. ^^
Maybe it's better if you've read the book? Watch it and tell me what you think :)
Lol dw about it. I don't comment sometimes too, it happens :P Haha you must be so bored of my blog with all of my Nicola love spurting left right and centre :P Sorry!
I kind of liked Coraline...but I read the book a long time ago, so maybe it liked it cause I knew what to expect. I do agree with you though about how the Other shouldn't automatically be the EVIL, and OMG I LOVE Corpse Bride TOO!!!!
But I don't really think that's a common theme of Gaiman's because in Stardust the Other ends up being hte place the hero is meant to be....then again I haven't read a whole lot of his.
Oh lol I still liked the film ALOT, but I just liked Corpse Bride more :P And I wasn't having a go at Gaiman, more just musing about why I liked CB more.
Enid is good stuff, especially if you're a HBC fan!
I'm a writer myself so I get hyper critical of writing in scripts. I can't help myself :P
And re The Last Train, I loved having Nicola on my screen too! Don't get me wrong there! Short hair = yum ;) But I don't think I would have bothered to finish if it wasn't for Nicola being in it.
OMG LUTHER. I KNOW RIGHT. THERE REALLY ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE NICOLA IN LUTHER. I TRIED IN MY LETTER TO HER AND GAVE UP AND JUST WROTE BAFTA MANY TIMES INSTEAD. IT WAS FECKING AMAZING. I HONESTLY DOUBT I WILL EVER SEE ANYTHING LIKE IT EVER AGAIN. GAH NO WORDS...
