FanExpo 2011

Hi there!

New Doctor Who fan living in Toronto, I was wondering if anyone is attending FanExpo this year (August 25-28). I was thinking of cosplaying as Romana I or Amy (from Vincent & Doctor because I need to get her coat) and it's always more fun to coordinate.

I'll post pictures once my costume is done.

Yay Torontonian DW fans!
I'm going to be at FanEx all weekend helping a friend behind her AA table and I'll be wearing my DotM River probably on the Sunday or Friday. If AN this year was any indication, I'm sure there will be a ton of DW cosplayers at FE this year!

Awesome! I'll make sure to try to spot you to say hi! I found out so recently about DW that I felt like I've missed out on most of the conventions this year. I'm so glad I at least found the Tavern so I have people to chat with.

Any advice regarding cosplaying? Dos and Don'ts? Someone said to bring spare pantyhoose if it's part of the costume, which is a very decent advice.

Oh, don't worry about that! The hasn't really been a singular con this year that's had a lot of DW so FanEx is as good a place to start as any! Here's to hoping it'll be a good year this year and not completely hellish like last year :S

Advice? Uh... yea, spare stuff is always good. I always tend to go to cons with a glue gun, and a mini sewing kit so that if something 'falls off' or w/e you can fix it pretty easy but that's really only a precaution and not something to worry a ton about. Maybe make sure you figure out a pose for your costume beforehand if you get asked for a picture...But otherwise... I wouldn't say there are many dos/don'ts... just have fun with it! :D

I might be able to hit Fan Expo for a day! And if I do, I'll probably end up wearing my just-finished 11 costume.

If you want to meet up, just tell me what day. I'm going to get the pass for all 4 days (will only go on 3 days though, still have to go to work!) I heard that FanExpo can be un or can be hellish, hopefully it will be a good year.

Awesome! I'd love to meet up. Thus far I'm still a bit uncertain which day due to my current 'schedule' being in flux, but I'll probably aim for either Saturday or Sunday. I'll have to see.

I went last year, and it was pretty hellish. Ended up staying inside the whole day because I kept hearing horror stories of people who'd gone outside the convention centre to get food and then had to wait up to three hours to get back in.

This year they've added a whole other area to the con though, so hopefully that'll make things ten times easier! Looking forward to meeting you and other Who fans.

Yay!!!!! More DW cosplayers for Fan Expo! I'll be there on Saturday as Stolen Earth/Journey's End Donna Noble. My friend is going as 'Day of the Moon' Amy Pond, and my sister-in-law as Martha Jones!! This is my first year at Fan Expo, and my second time cosplaying Donna! (edited from the first time cause now I have a better coat!!)

It's getting close, I'm so excited!!!

I'm going with my younger sister for the whole event! I'm going as the season 12 variation of the 4th Doctor (my sonic screwdriver just came in yesterday!) and my sister's going as Amy. I tried to get her to go as Sarah Jane but she wasn't interested.

I'll keep an eye out for you guys. There'll be plenty of Jelly Babies to go around!
