Help needed

I could use some advice. I am making props from all the Doctors (all 11). So far I am starting with the first seven, just so it's not too overwhelming. I am making hand props so they are easy to display, nothing huge or cumbersome. It has to be something I can make, not something I can by. I'm down to just the first Doctor and the fifth Doctor, but ( Read more... )

questions, doctor: five, companion: nyssa, prop, doctor: one, companion: vislor turlough

What about Turlough's lightup crystal thingy that the Black Guardian used to communicate with him? That sticks in my mind as a fairly memorable prop.

That is a very good idea. I just made a segment of the Key To Time, so I've ironed out the bugs of making clear props. It could be sculpted out of polymer clay and molded. That is a very cool thought. Thank you so much!!

Great idea, that was a memorable one. As for the first Doctor, I think first of the mercury link in the Dalek intro story. Don't know if that is enough of a challenge. It looked a bit like an old vacuum tube to me.

It's a tricky one to screencap, but how about One's signet ring?

I've thought about that, but it's really hard to get a good view. I could probably get something close from the costume jewelry places. I was more looking for something to build. Still, it's a good idea

For One you might make a fluid link, from "The Daleks;" basically a smallish glass rod either filled with mercury or plot-necessitatingly empty. If nothing else, it'd be dead simple to make.

There was also the TARDIS magnet One gave to Steven in "The Chase."

I need to pull out the episode and take a look at the TARDIS Magnet, that might be cool. I really don't remember it very well. The mercury fluid link was basically a mercury switch like in air conditioners, wasn't it. If it wasn't that would certainly pass. It's something to consider. Thank you for the ideas

For the TARDIS' Temporal Limiter, I've been using an old circuit board from an old military receiver. The board was about the right size, and had enough odd components on it to pass as one. I picked it up when I was teaching Electronics at the US Coast Guard Electronics School back in 1988, snagged as they were disposing of mounds of obsolete equipment.

It may be a "ready-made" prop, but you could peruse old surplus stores where such items can be found. Then you can tweak it to make it closer to the actual prop. (I consider mine a "good enough" Limiter, which could explain why I'm still stuck on this planet.)

Now, the Dimensional Comparator: there would be a prop to add to your list. (Also from 'Time Flight'.)

Dino.

My dad used to give me scrap electronic boards from work for my TARDIS components, it was really cool. Looking at the TARDIS components from Time Flight they seem to be a mixture of found objects and scavenged circuit boards. I need to pull out the episodes and make some sketches. Thank you for your thoughts.

Also, if you haven't already, be sure and ask over at crafty_tardis . Not to take anything away from here, and there is some overlap on membership, but the folks who are over there and aren't members here might also have some wonderful ideas. :)

So sorry, can't think of any other props for either of these Doctors.

But what props are you thinking about for the other Doctors not mentioned?

Great! I can't keep up, you create so much! :) Which is totally awesome of course!

There's always the TCE for the Master.

I had thought about the Master's Tissue Compression Eliminator but one of my unspoken (until now) guidelines was no weapons. I guess I'm a bit of a hippie. Peace, love rock'n'roll...
