I was toying with the idea of seeing if I could come up with cheap costume piece ideas for the 11th Doctor companion since I already have seen people beginning to cosplay him but haven't seen anything for her. Below the cut is what I found. There are spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution!
Cosplaying Amy Pond! :)
Promo Shots
Reference I'm not really sure if the promo shot outfit will end up being one of her outfits, but I included it anyway because in the past there have been a few companions whose promo shots DID turn out to be an outfit. Here we go!
Top:
I found two possible options both from Forever 21:
1)
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=top_casual&product_id=2062379637&Page=9#($19.90)
2)
http://www.forever21.com/heritage1981/mens/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=m_shirts&product_id=2047598946&showBACK=OK($22.90)
I think the first option is more accurate since it's likely that the shirt is a little lighter in reality anyway.
Tank:
Old Navy has ribbed tanks that are now on sale for $5 that come in gray, dark gray, and black. This was the closest kind of tank, which I also thought to be the cheapest that I could find. The dark gray is only available in stores, however:

I wasn't quite sure if the jeans were skinny or flair, but both of my options are skinny. Each are found at Forever 21 in black:
1)
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=btms_jeans&product_id=2062412919&Page=all($24.50)
2)

Coat:
Obviously the style is a peacoat. The shot does not give us a clear picture if there are pockets on the front or what kind of buttons (if any) are on the coat. I found one option at Old Navy, which was a similar shade (Peacock Green) with pockets and buttons. If you were cosplaying this character, you might want to get a coat with smaller buttons and less conspicuous pockets. It's all up to you. I chose this one because it was only $25:
http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=26519&pid=675606&scid=675606012&vid=-1 There is another coat with smaller pockets and buttons that is on the site but only available in purple. In stores, the Peacock Green shade for this may also be available. That one is more expensive, though ($50):
http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=26519&pid=675613&scid=675613032&vid=-1 Shoes:
There is no shot of her shoes in the actual promo pictures, so you'll just have to guess. Personally, I would wear black flats because they're easy and they go with everything. Feel free to get creative. :)
Set Pictures
There were two different set shots that I came across:
Picture 1-and-
Picture 2 The only difference in both pictures that I can spot is her sweatshirt. I tried searching out both sweatshirts.
Blue Sweatshirt:
http://www.cheapestees.com/hanes-50-50-crewneck-sweatshirt-p1607.html?gclid=CN2Gpc6MwJwCFSUMDQodPXK9nA($7.74)
There are two possible blue shades for this one - Carolina Blue and Light Blue. Either one looks fine.
Red Sweatshirt:
http://www.hanes.com/Hanes/Products/Men-Hanes/Men_ShopByCategory-Hanes/Men_Sweats-Hanes/HF170.aspx($18)
I couldn't really find the exact shade her sweatshirt, nor could I find a good example of a women's red sweatshirt that I could use for this. This link is more of a reference. I'm sure you'd have an easier time of finding a sweatshirt that resembles this in stores.
EDIT:
maypanic has informed me that the red sweatshirt seen on Amy is by American Apparel. You can find it
here on their site. It retails for $39.
maypanic also theorized that her blue sweatshirt might be sold by American Apparel. Since we cannot clearly see if it's hooded or not, it could be the same type of sweatshirt as the red one (in a possibly discontinued color) or
this one that I found. The baby blue shade looks fairly close to what she is wearing.
Leggings/Tights:
These are pretty basic gray leggings/tights. Here are just some ideas where you could get these for a reasonable price:
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=btms_leggings&product_id=2052987534&Page=1($4.50)
Usually Target also has various kinds of gray tights for about $5-$10.
Skirt:
Again, I'm not quite sure what type of skirt she is wearing. It looks to be made of a stretchy-type material. If that is the case, Old Navy has a type of skirt like this. The black version of the skirt is readily available in stores:
http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=26519&pid=653996&scid=653996042&vid=-1($12.99)
If the skirt does happen to be denim, Forever 21 had a fairly basic version:
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=BTMs&product_id=2060983728&showBACK=OK($14.90)
Leg Warmers:
Usually Target has pretty cheap, basic leg warmers running from $5-$10.
If you were looking for something online, these look fairly cheap and basic:
http://www.dollardays.com/i329430-wholesale-ladies-ribbed-leg-warmers.html There are also some on E-bay going for a price of $5.99 for the "Buy It Now" price:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-Pair-Womens-BLACK-Solid-Color-Leg-Warmers-NEW-NWT_W0QQitemZ380145427429QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090803?IMSfp=TL090803216001r23419 Shoes:
They're fairly basic Converse Hi-Tops in a magenta shade. They can be found at Converse.com, journeys.com, or any other shoe store that sells Chucks. They shouldn't be more than $45.
EDIT: It has also come to my attention that Amy wears navy/medium blue Chucks with the red sweater. (Thanks to
maypanic !)
I hope that helps any of you who were thinking of cosplaying Amy in the future. I may just do this for one day of TARDIS this year. ;) I'm not sure yet...
I'd love to hear your ideas and opinions/improvements on everything! :D
