EDIT: update on Red Boots

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a boot dye and also a boot polish?

I need to polish up some dark red boots for Romana I, and then dye some tan boots light blue for Zoe from the Five Doctors (Wooooo bubble wrap!). Both pairs are leather, although the red ones are a stiff leather and the tan ones ( Read more... )

Your local shoe repair store probably sells "Nu-Life", which is a spray paint made specifically for painting leather shoes. less common colors may have to be purchased online, but I've used it and it works great. Tips: Prepare the shoes by wiping with acetone to remove the finish, and after spraying them let them dry for about a week before wearing.

No advice on the dye, but James May's Manlab has boot polishing well covered:

I looked it up myself since I wanted to polish my riding boots, and it really does work! You can stop well before the "parade-ready" point, though, if you don't need them to be so shiny.
